How reliable is this rumor? I think if Ajax did sign him, they would have to hire Carlos Vadlerrama, simply to balance out all the bald guys on the team.

I think he will go to either PSV or AZ, he would have more first team football then at Ajax.

I've never seen Ryan Donk play, but if, BIG IF, this guy is the real deal, Ajax should really go after him. Stam is on a 2 year deal. Grygera will be gone in the 9 months or sooner, Vermaelen's form is ...... , Heitinga may leave if he has any kind of attention grabbing season, Lindenbergh is a fill in , and other than that we're all set at center back. :yes:

According to VI Henk ten Cate wants to talk with Ajax's board about buying a new midfielder. VI says that the it will probably be Said Boutahar.

Sky Sports said that our scouts observed John Mensah (Rennes) in his last game against St. Etienne.

Yeah, that's right. HTC wants an extra midfielder in the winter break. A 'pitbull'/'tackler' type midfielder, to be precise.

I don't know much about Boutahar. From what I've seen he's a good player, but is he Ajax material? I seriously wouldn't know.

I would perfer Barreto instead of Boutahar.

If its a pitbull he wants, perhaps he should go for Davids, or Guarin.

Mensah would be a good choice at the back, i do think he could make it in Ajax, now on the midfield deal i think we should go for Barreto, i'm sure he would make it in Amsterdam, plus he's got some ofensive up-side. Boutahar i believe is more ofensive minded and if we are looking for a Pitbull then Barreto would be the better choice.

The 'pitbull-midfielder' and 'Boutahar'-remarks were made independently during the interview.
Boutahar is a technical, offensive midfielder who -according to Ten Cate- has made the wrong choices in clubs but can be a great player.
On a different note Ten Cate also pointed out that he's looking for a 'Gabri-style' midfielder, but certainly did not mean Boutahar then.
