New Players for Ajax

We've completed the signing of Rasmus Lindgren, who was loaned out and sold to, but now bought back from FC Groningen for 2.5 million euros.

We also captured Samuel 'Sami' Kuffour

Well, Kuffour we've talked about on here already. A bit of a gamble but a very good signing if it all goes right, and I assume there was wasn't a fee involved.

With Lindgren though, it only seems like yesterday he was not good enough and surplus to requirements. I've not seen much of FC Groningen to comment but 2.5 million Euro's is a whole lot of money to spend.

Well Lindgren has developed a lot in the last 2 years, and when he was still with Ajax, he just simply wasn't good enough for a 21 year old midfielder... It is the perfect replacement for Davids or Gabri, and since Davids starts to get problems with his condition, a sub like Lindgren was very much needed... We only had De Jong as an replacement of Davids, but that is an more attacking player, so when u wan't to defend youre lead, a type like Lindgren is very welcome...

Ajax have spent wisely in my opinion. 3.75 for Silva, 2.5 for Lindgren , if the sale pans out, and a reported song for Sami Kuffour. I see nothing wrong with getting three defensive players for the price of one Engelaar or even less than that. We've all written about the need to improve the defense. At least Ajax are trying to improve the overall d.

I agree, this is looking like a good start. We will have to wait and see how it all pans out, but at least they're finally starting to fix the biggest problems in the squad.


Does anyone have more details about he Kufour deal? I haven't found much, but some sources are starting he has been loaned to use from Roma.

Italian reports say that he is for now still not an Ajacied. His agent is quoted saying that his guy "as far as now hasn't signed with anyone" and that also "Partizan Beograd and 2 German clubs" are interested in signing him. Anyway, it seems between the lines that Ajax is the first choice and that all is linked to the response of the medical tests

But maybe they could have been wiser : it doesn't look very serious to bring back two players not so long after they left and to buy 3 players from the same team in less than 6 months (is FCG our informal satellite club ?). And I'm wondering what are our scouts doing ? Are they watching only our opponents ? I expected to see a "Van der Zee effect" when he left PSV for Ajax but good unknown players are still going to PSV (or FC Groningen)...
