We can add 14 (holy number in Ajax) for Roger as well, but it still doesn't mean nothing... Numbers don't play - the players do. I think it is not important with what number they will play... We don't have a lot of money with marketings etc., so even number 99 (Wayne Gretzky rulzz) for Huntelaar wouldn't change the fact that Ajax won't be more popular in USA or Canada. I know that there is some kind of magic of numbers... And some kind of stereothypes that #10 is the best midfielder or something like that. But - who cares?? Well, maybe someone does, but not me, to be honest...

Normally (and I do use the term loosely) don’t managers pick their 11 starters and give them 1 through 11. I know it doesn't stay like this, but would this mean that Babel is ahead of any other wingers?
I have a lot of time for Babel, so would love to see him have a chance from the get go.

Heitinga at #2 makes sense to me. Babel at #8 doesn't. I see the best , most potent line-up as being Stekelenberg; Heitinga,Stam, Vermaelen, Emanuelson; Gabri, Perez, Sneijder; Rosales, Huntelaar, and Rosenberg. Second choice is slip Sneijder into the center, Perez to #11, and Maduro replacing Gabri. This also presumes that Grygera is history.

Yeah, I think that's a safe bet. I am pretty sure that Ajax will try to offload him, and that it won't be hard to find a buyer.
We have to think about the future. Vermaelen can develop into a great defender with a bloke like Stam next to him. That's our central duo for this season.

both VdV and Pienaar failed at the number 10.
