This guy 'll have to make left wingers chase him, instead of the other way around, cause he can't defend even if his life depended on it:

65min: Stewart Downing makes ground down the left and sends over a pinpoint cross for Viduka to get there ahead of Carlos to head into an empty net.

73min: Downing hammers a low cross into the goalmouth and, when Carlos can only push it away, Chris Riggott slides in to slot home the loose ball.

89min: Downing goes outside George Ogararu and crosses to the far post where Maccarone gleefully heads the ball home with Carlos in no man's land.

I know the club never officially discloses transfer fees, but "unofficially," how much did Ajax pay for him?

Just wait and see. I've seen him against Boro, Heerenveen and Holland.

I've heard that it was 3 mln euro, but I'm not sure... As you wrote - it is unoficial news.

As for Ogararu - I've never seen him in action, but former Romanian Ajacieden were very good, so I hope he'll take their example. Who knows, maybe we've bought second Chivu? :xyxthumbs:

I hope he is good, I have seen Steaua in the UEFA cup but I never really payed special attention on their players.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but in the pictures on Ajax.nl, is he wearing the new home shirt?

He lacks football intelligence to play far from the box and inside and around the box he isn't determined enough. Should never have been bought in the first place.

some say 1.8 million, other sources say 3 million.

Interesting. I'm going to watch Gibbs' play this summer and see if your observations are correct.

FWIW I thought he was fantastic (the lone bright spot) vs Germany in a friendly not so long ago.

I like the buys of Stam, Perez, and Gentenaar .I 'm not read to trash Martin van Geel ,for buying George Ogararu, or Ogararu himself. Time will tell how astute this buy is.BEST OF LUCK GEORGE!!!

It certainly seems to be. And btw, I had a check in the online shop to see if it said anything about the home shirt and the Ajax Historie DVD is now available :applaus:

I don't know about anyone else but I've already got mine from 'Bol.com/nl' (ordered a couple of weeks back and arrived in two days). Seems some things don't change.....

he made amazing maches in the uefa cup this year. against udineze, olimpik marseile, cska moscaw, schalke 04... he playd against heerenveen too. he's 25 and will cost half a million. angelov is very good player i garantee. he's very quick and play just smart
