Yeah. Lets all welcome Klaas to the always interesting world of Ajax!
I have only seen this guy in highlights and a few Heerenveen games here and there, looks the goods. Lets hope he stays leading scorer in Holland by the seasons end :xyxthumbs:

Let's hope that HE can understand the "system" that Ajax are now playing! If he's good enough, he'll score whatever "position" he's playing. Klaas will be part of the "team", a team of maybe 15 or 16 players.
If he wants "The shirt" he'll have to come up with the goods!
GOOD LUCK MATE! (apart from tonight)

this is very ironic that he scored against his future club ,but this is also shows that klaas is a professional player that tried to do his best ,even under this kind of circumstances. that shows somethig about his characteristic ,wich is cheerful for the future.

I only hope that fans aren't putting all their hopes on KC as last night it really showed that we need more than this latest number 9 to turn us around.

I agree with the last few posts. KJH will only be as good as the talent around him will allow him to be.He will still need to receive higher quality service than seen to date. Also, his goals will equal squatola if the club doesn't play with more heart, guts, and skill...and less apathy and disinterest...than they've show. At any rate, WELCOME KLAAS!!

What are the odds that he'll stay with Ajax fir the duration of his contract?
Anyone?

Normally a player doesn't stay for the duration of his contract. It wouldn't even be desireable. Ajax can only buy players if they sell players, so normally they'll demand a decision from the player one (or sometimes two) years before his contract expires: you can either sign a new deal or we will sell you now.
Ajax failed to do this in the cases of De Jong, Trabelsi and Pienaar, but it is the 'usual' procedure (the club has no other choice if they want to survive).
My guess is that we'll have KJH for three and a half seasons, until the summer of 2009. By that time he will want to move on, is my expectation, so Ajax will probably sell him then.
If he does extremely well for Ajax and some big club shows up in the summer of 2008, Ajax should turn 'em down unless they offer
huge $$$.
Conclusion: we'll have him for 3.5 years. If he does extremely, extremely well possibly for 2.5.

I think we'll have him until the Board can sell him at a loss or at no profit, sell him when it will leave us striker poor, and sell him when it can enrich a CL group opponent. The dopes did it once.

I just published a whole bunch of new News Links on Ajax USA (if you want to check out all of them, don't just read the ones of the homepage, but also check the News Links Archive).
This Huntelaar story deserves your special attention:

Talk about being disillusioned about our ability to hold on to players when half of the posts in this thread is about selling a player that hasn't even made his debut yet.
Ajax-fans.... ;)

The, reason I asked was that I wanted to see whether we would get some real value for the guy, and whether he wanted to be an Ajacied. It sounds like we will - if he stays here as long as Ko suggests we might not have to worry about goal scoring and can focus on shoring up other parts of our team, like wingers, defenders, etc.

I can't speak for others, but I for one was being sarcastic. Just having a laugh at the fact that he was scoring against Ajax after the transfer deal was done.

Yep, I believe he is. Each team is allowed to register one extra player in January as long as they haven't played in the
same UEFA competion (so if we'd finished third he wouldn't have been eligible for the UEFA Cup).

So, he didn't score in his forst 68 minutes.
Time to come up with a strategy to:
Call him bad names,
come up with situations he's been ridiculously lousy in
find a strategy to oofload him.
You can consider this an official go!
