Welcome DerKaiser,
Youll find plenty of supporters on this forum, from the USA, Canada, UK, Sweden, France, Holland, Australia and many other countries. We're a really happy jolly worldwide community of English speaking Ajacieds.
In a few hours time our diamond geezer moderator Ko will be along to close this thread down. Please don't take this personally, it's just that if it doesn't happen like that the threads go all over the place and we won't know where we are.
Anyway, you're very welcome (and I know by now that I'm right Ko ;) )

SE6 Ajacied explained the policy very well.
I was going to do what he predicted, but then I f*cked up... I wanted to re-post the posts above to the About this forum thread and then delete this one. But guess what? I accidentally deleted the (seven page long) About this forum thread instead...
Oh well, whatever: let's just make this thread the new About this forumthread then...

Hey folks,
DanK and I just noticed that there is something wrong with the PM service of this forum... We sent each other a PM a few times, received e-mail notification, but when we checked our inboxes there was nothing there. This happened to me twice in the past two days and it just happened to Dan. So, basically, you send a PM, the recipient receives e-mail notification, but the actual PM never arrives to his inbox.
Or something... Did anyone else notice this?
I just sent e-mail (not a PM...) to Drecul, our Ajax Talk technician and wizzkid.

I never really got the point of PMs anyway. It's basically mail, but with a shitty client :)Kowalczyk schreef:Hey folks,

I'm not sure, to be honest. I think he just quit.philippe schreef:I was wondering what had become of Edwin, the former webmaster of Ajaxmania ? He did a great job, and was very friendly with fans from abroad.
I know that there were a few conflicts with Edwin, that Ajax Mania disappeared and that Ajax Talk was some sort of a 'new start'. But towards the end of Ajax Mania and in the earliest days of Ajax Talk I never posted, so I kind of missed that whole episode. I always liked Edwin, too. Personally, I never had any problems with him, but I know that some others did.
Again: I don't exactly know what happened. All I know is that he decided to pull the plug out of Ajax Mania at some point.
The spirit of the old Ajax Mania is very much alive over here, by the way. The Ajax Talk mod team is great (they are some of my favourite people from the old Ajax Mania days anyway). Very friendly. Very reasonable. No conflicts going on. It's been a pleasure to be their 'guest', so far.

I agree with Ko. I was a bit nervous when we all came over from Soccerpages, and it seems we've lost a few posters in the switch, but this place is far superior. Several new members have come aboard, (plus some of the dutch forum regulars contribute frequently) which has greatly enhanced the experience. So I'm glad we made the switch. Plus the forum software is much, much better.
I checked the Soccerpages forum not that long ago, and it was completely empty.

Not sure, phpBB isn't that great... For example, it don't "save" the post you haven't read yet. I mean, you visit the forum, you see you have some unread posts. You haven't the time to read everything so you come back later to finish the reading, but all the posts are now marked as read... Really boring. ;)aveslacker schreef:Plus the forum software is much, much better.
A board like SMF doesn't have this problem.
But the most important thing is of course the community and on this point, it's great, even though there's some whiner, always complaining what ever happens... :D

I don't think this is all bad. For example I don't always have the time (want :hypocrite: ) to read the musics post that I don't understand shit about. The music thread would always be on top as I don't read it that much, if the forum would "save" the posts you haven't read yet.Cedric_AeF schreef: Not sure, phpBB isn't that great... Now it's not and that's a good thing. ;)
Has anyone seen the Limecat?
The unread posts, as the music thread in your exemple, wouldn't be always on top... It would only be marked "unread" with the link to view the posts you haven't read yet, that's all. And of course, there would be a button to mark the post as read. So in your case, it wouldn't be a problem at all.
But anyway, it was no more than a remark ; I'm not asking the mods to change the forum : too much work and we would lose all the data... It doesn't worth it.
And I forgot to say that I had recently a curious a problem with this board and my firewall (Norton). Most of the time, the server of Ajaxtalk seemed to be down, but I figured out that it was my firewall which was the problem. I had to add the IP adress of this board into the list of authorised adress...

My firewall works just fine... I think it has something to do with the fact that I don't use Windows ;)Kowalczyk schreef:Yup. (This is being a really teccy topic ;) ) Mine's fine too but I'm happily windows-ing. I had the same problem with E-bay though and had to add a new server address to my set-up but then the whole thing crashed on me completely X'C Ajaxtalk is always OK though.carcajou schreef:My firewall works just fine... Being the trainspotter type that I am I sometimes look at the new memberlist on here and some of the websites that are linked - you get some interesting footy sites that way.
Today though we seem to have a whole load of purely advertsing sites including a very dodgy looking porn site on member 1073 - any chance of it coming down. I'm no puritan and if people want that they know where to find it but don't think Ajaxtalk should be hosting it.
I hope I'm not being too prudish here, but "Rapescenes" sounds a bit beyond the pale to me - this is a free site for footy fans and I just don't think that sort of stuff should be on here.

Yeah, I must say that I have been quite the lurker here, but I have kept up with the forum. I think that this is a vast improvement upon the Soccerpages and congratulate Ko and Jim on their work.

All gone Ko, someone's taken all of them down already :xyxthumbs: . There were about 5 or 6, all new members from the same day (which was only 1 hour old when I looked!) and all with weblinks. One was called something or other "ringtones" which sort of gave their game away - anyway, all gone, we're clean again, no :pukey: !Kowalczyk schreef:What's the nickname of this dude?
