Tom De Mul
According to today's issue of De Telegraaf Danny Blind has invited right winger Tom De Mul to join the first squad for next season. De Mul had several games for Ajax-1 at the start of the 2004-2005 season. He did very well at first, but then fell back and disappeared from the first team. He even had a hard time at Young Ajax this season, but started improving again in the last months of the season.
This move by Danny Blind once again underscores that he (like Ronald Koeman) does not really believe in Daniël de Ridder. Seems like De Ridder will once again have Mauro Rosales, Tom De Mul and possibly Steven Pienaar ahead of him for the right winger position. I don't see a way out of this situation for him anymore.

No Fear schreef:Plus Blind is totally mad about De Mul...Personally, I think he is very overrated. Isn't gonna make it. Way too light.
well, he's only 18, there is plenty of time to get him on steak and potatoes
i like tommy, but i'm very upset about the way de ridder has been treated here - he's never really been given a run of games to get crankin' - i fear he will go off somewhere else and become a star - dammit! he is supposed to become a star here and then get sold for too little by the board! the proper AJAX way!

Vitesse?
According to Highlow.nl Vitesse are seriously interested in having Tom De Mul on loan. The Arnhem club are reportedly talking to Ajax already. De Mul himself is quoted saying: "It's a great club and I am very pleased with it. Ajax want to loan me out, but Vitesse are coming out of a period of financial worries. They'll have to see if they can afford it, but everyone's very enthusiastic."

According to De Telegraaf De Mul has signed a new deal (until 2008) and has been loaned out to Vitesse for one season. Ajax could not have loaned him out without renewing his contract, as it would have expired at season's end. Now that he's penned a new deal he can be loaned out.
I'll wait for confirmation on Ajax.nl and then write a news report.

Ajax.nl just confirmed the contract extension, but not the Vitesse transfer...
I think that's a matter of hours, though: the news is everywhere and the report on Ajax.nl says: "Ajax have the intention to loan the player out this season."
They'll confirm the deal with Vitesse today, I'm sure.

Good thing. Reminds me of Van der Meijde going to Twente. Now he can prove what he's worth. He is still young, maybe Van Gaal and others saw it well. But Tom, this year you have to show you made some progression. Otherwise: one way ticket to Belgium!

De Telegraaf was a bit early with the news (as usual). Today the website of the Vitesse fanclub (Vitesse.org) reports that De Mul himself has reached an agreement with the club already, but Ajax and Vitesse are still negotiating the fee. Vitesse are determined to land De Mul before the weekend, because the want to play him in their game at PSV this weekend... but so far there's no deal yet.Kowalczyk schreef:According to De Telegraaf De Mul has signed a new deal (until 2008) and has been loaned out to Vitesse for one season.

He is now a loaned out player, so let's discuss him in the Ajax Players On Loan thread from now on:

This thread will be closed down until he's back.

According to newspaper De Telegraaf Tom De Mul does not want to extend his existing Ajax contract, which will expire in the summer of 2008. The right winger has been linked with Sevilla in recent weeks and reportedly wants to leave Ajax, this summer of the next. Also, De Telegraaf claims that De Mul does not like the "atmosphere in the dressing room" at Ajax.
I say: if he doesn't want to renew his deal, sell him this summer, whether he wants it or not. If Sevilla don't wish to pay the fee, then sell him to someone else. De Mul has been everything but impressive in the second half of the season. He's definitely 'replaceable'. I also predict that he won't make it in Spain.

A move to a big club in Southern Europe will do wonders for your career at this age.
