Former Ajax Coaches
Seems like it will be England for Ronald Koeman...
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0, ... 47,00.html
All due respect to Pompey, but can't he get a bigger club than that? Don't get me wrong, I don't rate him at all as a coach, but he's quite a big name and only one year ago Barcelona wanted him.
I thought it was going to be Valencia. They sacked their coach just before Koeman stepped down.
Now we're talking about former coaches anyway: it's still a mystery what our old mate Co is up to... No rumours whatsoever. I'm sure he'll surprise us, though.

Leo Beenhakker
Leo Beenhakker's got a new gig...
He was a special consultant for De Graafschap (no contract; he was allowed to accept another job at all time). Yesterday he was presented as the new coach of the national team of... (*drum fill* Brazil? Argentina? Italy?)... Trinidad & Tobago.
Looks like he will have no Dutch assistants along. Two fine gentlemen by the names of David Nakhid and Russell Latapy have been signed up as Beenhakker's assistants.
This, by the way, effectively rules out a return to Ajax as TD.

Old Leo has got his work cut out for him since trinidad are currently dead last in the Concacaf standings.

I think you are right (Rijkaard will still be in charge of Barcelona next season), but this was not at all sure for quite a long time. There were persistent rumours in the media that he was very unhappy at the club: a very cold atmopshere and an almost constant political battle of club officials. He hated that and felt that he was working in a snakepit.astabooty schreef:Frank Rijkaard will still be the coach of Barcelona next season. There is absolutely no reason for him to leave
He kind of admitted this a few weeks ago: he said that he is very happy in Barcelona, but that it took him a while to get reach that point.
(By the way: Frank Rijkaard is not a former Ajax coach... only a former Ajax player).

I know I'm sounding a bit obsessed with this Trinadad job but according to today's Guardian Beenhakker was only offered the job as second choice to Ron Atkinson after some senior players said that they would not work with Ron after he was sacked from ITV television commentating for making a racist remark which was broadcast on air.
Completely :offtopic: I know so I'll shut up but I think it's interesting to know the background to these things :D .

Jan Olde Riekerink
Jan Olde Riekerink, the coach who made it to the semi finals of the 'big' Amstel Cup with Young Ajax in 2002, resigned as head-coach of First Division side Emmen two days ago. Emmen are bottom in the First Division.
It is hardly a surprise that there are reports in the newspapers today that claim that he is now a candidate for the position of director of youth academy at Ajax (source: Algemeen Dagblad).
Could be a good man for the job!

Didn't he say that he wanted an experience abroad a few months ago ?sonicdream schreef:I read somewhere that he signed a three year contract with Porto.
Kinda made me sad actually; I was hoping he'd come back to Ajax in any position opening avai - whether to be TD or youth director.
:nooo:
Anyway, good luck to him.

Yes you may be right - I also think I remember reading that a while back, about him wanting to try his luck abroad.
But apparently now Co's saying he's not going to Porto...it seems there has been conflicting information:

BTW, is that you Bertrand? What are you doing in CA??

Co is not only a man of discipline and match tactics. His coaching exists for a huge part in talking to players, establishing relations with them and from there on he builds a firm belief in him, his methods and the team. He can make both the individual and the team exceed themselve that way.sonicdream schreef:Yes you may be right - I also think I remember reading that a while back, about him wanting to try his luck abroad.

When I see his name mentioned at a Spanish, Portuguese or whatever club it makes me wonder how he's going to accomplish that if he doesn't speak their lingo. Through an interpreter? No way. It won't work.
Co is a clever man, my guess is he'll go to a country where he does speak the language. This would probably bring him to Belgium, Scotland or England next year.

Co
Co is denying everything and seems very annoyed by the press and how they publish all kinds of things before the club (or Adriaanse himself) have announced it...

Koeman
Ronald Koeman's move to Benfica is now official. He will once again take on Co Adriaanse next season (FC Porto).
According to Ajax Netwerk Koeman will add Tonnie Bruins Slot to his staff. Bruins Slot did the scouting reports and match analysis for Koeman. He stayed at Ajax when Koeman resigned, but was generally expected to follow him at a later stage. Which will almost certainly happen. He was spotted in Lisbon yesterday.
