Hello,

Thanks for all your help with your Ajax favourite players.

I was hoping you would be able to help me out again.

I need to try and find out is about great Ajax matches.
These matches can be great due to the scoreline/opponent or because it won something (final league game/cup final etc)

If possible could you list 20 great game (preferable home matches)

AJAX - AC MILAN it was a match for the CL, till the 90th minut, the score was 2-2 and Ajax would go to the Half finals. Butt then; dickhead :flop: Tomasson :rocketwhore: Scored the 2-3 in the 91th minut.
Then Rafael v.d. Vaart missed a great chance...

20 is an awfull lot. I'll name some that I remember (one more vividly then the other)

Real Madrid - Ajax 0 - 2 (CL 1996) Must be the greatest match I've seen!
Ajax - Atlethico Bilbao 4 - 1 (Uefa cup 1978?) Ajax went through to the next round after having lost the first match with 2 - 0
PSV - Ajax 1 - 4 (comp 1988/1989) With a header from Winter from a corner, a bit alike the corner of oranje against Brazil 1992.
PSV - Ajax 1 - 4 (comp 1994/1995) With a magnificent van Vossen goal
Ajax - Feyenoord 6 - 0 (1977?) 5 goals of Ruud Geels
Ajax - PSV 5 - 0 (AC in de kuip 1997?) With a fantastic party on the pitch after the game!
AC Milan - Ajax 0 - 2 (CL 1995) Litmanen!!
Ajax - Haarlem 4 - 1 (comp 1982) The return of Cruijff in de Meer!
Ajax - Twente 5 - 3 (comp 80/81) First time cruijff coaching on the bench! :D
Dortmund - Ajax 0-2 (CL) Davids playing on '4'

92: Genoa 1893 - Ajax 2-3 : Great Ajax-game, defeating the Genoa in Italy. An extra goosebumps moment was that after the match, as the Ajax-fans had to stay in their side, they were all cheering and chanting 'we are the champions'. Resulting in the players coming back onto the pitch to celebrate the victory with them.

93: FC Utrecht Ajax 1-4 : with as driving force an excellent Rijkaard, a new legendary team was slowly taking shape.

95: Feyenoord - Ajax 2 - 4 : after 7 mins already 2-0 behind. But it was impressive to see how calm and determined Ajax stayed and almost like a cat toying with a mouse, within the same half, they crushed Feyenoord and reached half-time with a 2-3 score.

96: Panathinaikos - Ajax 0 - 3 : after a surprisedefeat in the homematch, Ajax surprised everyone with an excellent performance in Greece.

Do you also remember 0-3 in the same stadium with a briljant Petterson goal a few years earlier? The feyenoord stadium often brings out the best in us. :yes:

For me the 0-2 (actually 0-3) in the Bernebaeu stands out as technicaly the best Ajax pereformance I have ever seen. A highly rated Real Madrid team were not so much beaten, as ripped to shreds.

Even if Litmanen's free kick that went into the goal and came back out off a stantion had been allowed, 0-3 would not have done justice to the level of humiliation piled on Real that night. I don't think that Real squad ever quite recovered.

Domesticaly the 6 - 1 against Roda also stands out. After the game the Roda coach said that his team had played very well, but Ajax were playing "football from another planet" - and he was exactly right.
