Pretty cool to see juventus could find themselves in pot 3. Although I'd rather not see them again in this competition.

Yes that´s correct.

Loads of clubs are already playing in UEFA competitions, in all kinds of preliminary rounds and what not, but Ajax's 'European' season starts on Friday 31 August: draw for the UEFA Champions League group stage.

That would be great, actually. It's one of the trips I quite fancy, but we never play them. If they end up in our group I will definitely be there at the Parc des Princes.

BTW, sorry, Ko, but it now seems likely though strange that PSG will eventually reach pot 3, thanks to UEFA's format and calculations.

Also, on the UEFA website : UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino welcomed the continued growth of the UEFA Champions League at the play-off draw but said it must be accompanied by a pursuit of integrity.

A competition that abandoned the idea that it is for champions long ago , that is all about the euros , and that has UEFA and all that entails associated with it... is looking for integrity ?

The draw for the group stage of the Champions League Ajax is currently in place in pot 3. It will then draw the two senior teams in the group take. There is a small chance that Ajax can rise to pot 2. Therefor Dynamo Kiev and Sporting Braga are both switched off.

Dynamo Kiev is Tuesday already in action at Borussia Monchengladbach. Sporting Braga follows Wednesday with its home game against Udinese. The returns follow a week.

Don't go holding your breath. Kiev are up 3-1 at Monchengladbach.

De kans wordt steeds groter dat Ajax bij de loting van de groepsfase van de Champions League in Pot 3 terecht komt. Voor een promotie naar Pot 2 heeft Ajax de uitschakeling in de voorronde van zowel Dynamo Kiev als Sporting Braga nodig. Dynamo Kiev won echter dinsdagavond al uit bij Borussia Monchengladbach met 1-3. Dat gebeurde mede door een eigen doelpunt van Siem de Jong's broer Luuk. In de return in Kiev zouden de Duitsers de 3-1 achterstand moeten goedmaken. Sporting Braga volgt woensdag met haar thuiswedstrijd tegen Udinese.

F*ck the pots, we play for 3rd place anyway so all that matters is avoiding pot 4. And if we happen to have a really good year then we'll advance to 2nd round regardless of how much pot we get.

I don't think we should play the Europa Mickey League : too much energy for no money. That's how our competitors let us come back in the race for the Dutch title.
So I would say that our goal is number 2, which we should have reached last season had not we been cheated, or nothing.

^ I agree with you but one cannot refuse to play as that would result in a UEFA sanction as would deliberately throwing a match. The only real money comes from making it to the championship game.

Agree. CL qualification is not a given . Better to participate and take the euros on offer . Use any avenues available to protest, not including non - participation.

Just to add to this, the club has already stated that their budget planning going forward is contingent on minimally playing EL football.
