Lyon's striker Lisandro Lopez is out for a month and will not play the game in Amsterdam.

He kind of sucks though doesn't he? He did not impress me with all of his wasted chances in the CL the past few years.

We have NO chance against them. None. So we should do one of 2 extremes, IMO:

1) Throw out the young kids/B Team and give them some experience.
2) Really go at them and try to let in as few goals as possible to try and beat out Lyon on Goal Differential.

Can anybody confirm a report I read , I believe on Sky website , that Cris is also out several weeks. On the negative side , I see that while Lyon lost a mf (Cissoko I think) , they've brought in a replacement from Sevilla .

Found the following on UEFA.com :

Olympique Lyonnais coach Rémi Garde will be unable to call on captain Cris or the centre-back's deputy in that role, Lisandro, for their game at AFC Ajax on 14 September. Cris, 34, is expected to be out for around a month with a hamstring strain, as is Lisandro as he nurses a sprained left ankle sustained in Saturday's 2-1 defeat of Montpellier Hérault SC. The 28-year forward will be in plaster for ten days and could also miss the second Group D assignment at home to GNK Dinamo Zagreb on 27 September. French Under-20 international Yannis Tafer is also unavailable, with a stress fracture of the foot likely to keep him out for three months.

Assuming Madrid and Lyon will win on matchday 6:

1. a win in Lyon on matchday 5 and Ajax go thru to the CL knockout stage on points

2. a scoring draw in Lyon on matchday 5 and Ajax go thru to the CL knockout stage on away goals

3. a scoreless draw in Lyon on matchday 5 means we go to goal difference - currently Ajax is +3 and Lyon is -4, so it would turn on how much you can limit the damage from Madrid on matchday 6; one would hope a 7 goal advantage would get you thru to the CL knockout stage

4. a loss in lyon on matchday 5 means it's EL time unless the initial assumption (madrid and lyon will win on matchday 6) proves false

Kim Kallstrom is suspended for the match day 5 against Ajax. Michel Bastos is injured, and they are assessing how long he will be out for. Initially they said he would be out for a month, this was on the 28th of October, that would mean he would miss the game against Ajax. Theo Janssen should be fit in time for the game
