Got a question for you music geeks:
I need the name of a song, often played at sports events. The words go like this: "Na na naa naaa naaaaa nananana naaa nanaa naa naa... etc." Good description, huh? ;)
Last time I heard at the F1 GP in Barcelona. You can hear it in the background of this interview: http://sportis.websolutions.fi/Westerba ... 032005.wmv
Thanks!

Gloria Gaynor "I will survive". Anthem of the French Football team when they won the WC in 98.jakobg schreef:Got a question for you music geeks:

The song is not Gloria Gaynor "I will survive". Is that song really the one the French team had ´98?Carcajou schreef: Gloria Gaynor "I will survive". Anthem of the French Football team when they won the WC in 98.
The words are surposed to be the "nanana"-stuff. What's the title of the song?

That's sure, the song we can hear during the interview is 'I will survive' of Hermes House Band, which is a cover of Gloria Gaynor. It can't be something else, otherwise, your link is a bad one...jakobg schreef: The song is not Gloria Gaynor "I will survive". Is that song really the one the French team had ´98?

Cedric's right, it is IN FACT a cover by the Hermes House Band of Gloria Gaynor's song "I will survive". In that version you'll get all the crap/cheap LALALALALLALALALALALALA you want ;)Cedric_AeF schreef:That's sure, the song we can hear during the interview is 'I will survive' of Hermes House Band, which is a cover of Gloria Gaynor. You are of course correct. That's the one, but still not. The version I can find is not the one I'm looking for. Same meldy, same song, but a different version. Oh, well, I'll keep looking to find the right one.Carcajou schreef: Cedric's right, it is IN FACT a cover by the Hermes House Band of Gloria Gaynor's song "I will survive". Cake does an excellent, manly cover of this song as well.jakobg schreef:You are of course correct. That's the one, but still not. The version I can find is not the one I'm looking for. However, I feel there is a need to make a distinction between drama-gay and party-gay.
The Village people are party-gay and Gloria Gaynor is drama gay.
The easiest test is to try if the "talk to the hand" gesture fits in as a dance move to the song*.
If "yes" - drama gay
If "no" - party gay.
*Try it and you will see the gesture fits perfectly to the line

American tax dollars hard at work
On May 26, the United States Congress took time out from funding the occupation of Iraq and fighting over judicial nominees to pass a resolution congratulating Carrie Underwood for winning the ``American Idol'' television program and thanking her for being a positive role model.
You think I'm kidding?

I have absolutely NO IDEA who that person is. Never heard the name, never saw the show (thankfully...) and have no understadning for shows like that or that any person being affiliated with such a show could be a role model of any kind!ajaxusa schreef:On May 26, the United States Congress took time out from funding the occupation of Iraq and fighting over judicial nominees to pass a resolution congratulating Carrie Underwood for winning the ``American Idol'' television program and thanking her for being a positive role model.

Okay - I'm going to a gig almost every day this week. Time for a quick update...
Saturday: Oasis @ Ancienne Belgique, Brussels
Absolutely fantastic. Great venue (approx. 2,000), great atmosphere, great company (friends of my man Jamcocteau, who unfortunately couldn't make it himself) and 90 minutes of truly fantastic rock & roll. It's been years since they made an album that was more or less worth your money, but if they feel like it they're still one of the best live bands on this planet. A gig like this gives me energy for a whole month. It's weird, but I just love that 'we don't give a shit about you lot' kind of attitude and that 'fuck everything' type of R&R. Oasis are everything that I love about England.
Sunday: Crosby, Stills & Nash @ Pepsi Stage, Amsterdam
So-so. Once again it was truly fantastic to witness this at a relatively small venue of 2,000, and there were some moments of great beauty: Almost Cut My Hair, Graham Nash's Chicago, Guinnevere and a fantastic version of Wooden Ships, probably my CSN(&Y) favourite. The voices of Crosby and Nash are still very much intact. But... I was absolutely shocked by the state Steve Stills is in. His voice is gone, he seems to have gone a little bit crazy and he had apparently demanded the time to do a handful of songs of his absolutely fucking terrible new solo album. He really was the laughing stock of the evening. A bit sad. The band did not sound very 'tight' in the first half of the show, either. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt based on the second half of the show, which was sometimes very good, but that was about it.
Tonight: Dinosaur Jr @ Vera, Groningen
(First European show of their reunion tour!)
Wednesday: Beck @ Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam
Thursday: Billy Corgan @ Paradiso, Amsterdam
As you can see: Brussels, Groningen... It really is my own personal 'tour schedule'. I'll be sleeping at a hotel again tonight.

I'm afraid not... I have a spare ticket myself and I'm somehow having trouble finding someone. My music friends have other things to do or want to watch the footie, so I ended up asking my sister - and she's not even too much a Beck fan...jamcocteau schreef: if you know of anybody looking for tickets for Beck give me a shout as I am going to be watching (ahem) Scotland v Belarus.
I'm afraid not... As you can see I'm having a busy 'gig week'. My girlfriend has 'claimed' me for Thursday evening (and I want to be with her; only night of the week we'll see each other).Meet you in Dans on Thursday before the Billy Corgan gig for a beer.
