Re: The One & Only Official Music Geeks' Thread

Now that there's no football (well, not Ajax games anyway) I thought I would turn my tension to this thread that I remembered, but never really had the time to examine before.
This has probably been done before (didn't have the patience to go through 27 pages of posts), but I thought it might be interesting to share some music from my own country and I would hope some of you would do the same as we have guys here from all over the world. I'm talking about bands and artist that are not known that well an a international level, but might be worth listening to.
So, here is my tips from Finland:
The Flaming Sideburns (garage rock)
Very explosive rock kind of with a old school spice. I think one of their major influences is MC5. They came out in the same time as a lot of similar bands from Scandinavia that I enjoy like The Hives from Sweden and Turbonegro from Norway, but I think musically The flaming sideburns are more interesting. Best album: Hallelujah Rock'n'Rollah
Trio Tetris (electro)
Any of you that have played video games in the late 80's and early 90's might find this interesting as the sounds and melodies of Trio Tetris feel like you are back playing the old Nintendo Nes though they are of course a bit more high fi. Best album: Heavy elevator
Tuomo (Soul/Jazz)
Just quality stuff that sounds very international. Best album: My Thing
Uusi Fantasia (Electro/Chill out)
A big collaboration of musicians. A nice mix of samples and live instruments. Best album: Top Ten
French Films (Rock)
This is I guess the Finnish answer to the "the" bands. Nothing too unique, but if you like bands like the Drums you might like this.
Aino Venna
A woman with an amazing deep voice does this chanson type of music in English and French.
Hope you guys find some of this stuff interesting.
Happy new year!
