Thanks for the translation Ko.

"Inconsistency was Ten Cate's main problem"
He should feel right at home with the current Ajax players...
Anyway, I like Ten Cate as a manager and am looking forward to another exciting season

Yeah, I'm surprised to see these reports this morning too. I'm not sure what to make of it yet. On the one hand, I think a lot of people have the feeling Ajax would be better off with a better coach. Who that would be is a whole other story.Van basten schreef:I still can't believe what i have read on skysports![]()

I think alot of people have simply been disappointed with ten Cate for not living up to Ajax expectations (however realistic that may be) or for (the lack of) work in the transfer market. I think that's a feeling that's come through in the beginning of this season, but like what others have already mentioned on here, the reality is Ajax is top of the league, with a lot of goals scored, and only one loss.
As much as I'd like to see the best results possible, I think it would be even tougher losing the head coach in the middle of the season. I guess that might change if he did go and a promising replacement was found.
Moving from manager at Ajax to assistant manager at Chelsea... is that really a step up for HTC?? I don't know. Considering that HTC was the assistant at Barcelona before joining Ajax, my first reaction when I read these articles is that maybe he's simply decided he enjoys being the second in command behind the scenes more than the main person in charge front and center. It will be interesting to see if this is nothing more than a rumor or if this story turns out to have any truth to it.

Ten Cate quiet on Blues link
Coach focused on Ajax
Coach focused on Ajax
Ajax coach Henk ten Cate insists he does not want to talk about the speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea.
Ten Cate has been rumoured to be a target of the Blues as they look to bolster manager Avram Grant's coaching staff in the wake of the departure of former boss Jose Mourinho.
Dutch football magazine Voetbal International claims Chelsea's technical director Frank Arnesen has held talks with ten Cate about a possible move to the West London club.
However, ten Cate is adamant he wants to remain fully focused on Ajax's Uefa Cup match with Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday.
"I only want to answer questions about the game of Ajax against Dinamo Zagreb," ten Cate told Dutch media.
"I can't say if the interest of Chelsea is right or not. I thought I was clear.
"But I want to say it again. I only answer questions about the Ajax versus Dinamo Zagreb game."

According to the Guardian HtC is going to Chelsea as Director of Football, so he will be Grant's boss, not his assistant.

According to both English and Dutch reports (who knows whether they're true or not), Hiddink has agreed to become manager and it's his demand that Chelsea also hire HTC as his assistant:

Bye-Bye HTC!
Bye-Bye HTC!
I bet we get Neeskins from Barca. He almost came last time. I'll take Marco back, but I would rather have Rijkaard come save us but fat chance of that!

Honestly Jol will be a step backwards and MVB will NOT do any better than HTC. In truth, the only way forward is Rijkaard IMHO. Neeskens wouldn't help much either.
Anyone think that the board will bite the bullet and make Rijkaard an offer he can't refuse? Barca are aching to appoint Mourniho it's been said... .
