Great news tonight Jong Ajax beat Helmond 4-0 and we are now top by 1 point from PSV and Sparta.Sparta were top but lost to Groningen .
So to win the title next week we have to beat Twente. What a nice double that would be if both the first team and Jong can win the titles.

Team tonight

Padt
Aslan, Wielaert, Kappelhof, Will(75 Supusepa)

Bonevacia(67 Overtoom), Lodeiro, Eriksen

Aissati, Suk(83 Danilo) Sulejmani .

Goals Will, Lodeiro, Aissati and Danilo.

I am sure they will play alot of first teamers next week .

Good luck to the Jong tonight vTwente. Win and they are champs. I would imagine it will be a mainly spare first team as usual.Winning the title would be a lot better if most of the team were 19 and 20 year old just out of the youth .

Currently 2-2 with about 10 mins to go . Unless we score again the title is lost .

2-2 final score v Jong twente so Jong PSV are champions . Suk and Sulejmani scored for us .

Verhoeven
Aslan, Wielaert, Kappelhof( Zeegelaar) Will

Bonevacia, Lodeiro, Overtoom
Aissati, Suk, Sulejmani .

No final details of any other subs other than Zeegelaar came on in 2nd half. Don't think anyone really cares .

This line up did contain 5 proper Jong so I cannot really moan but the team cost 30m euros and they could not win .

Would like Huistra to explain what benefit Ajax gained out of the so called Jong team this season . Played a load of experienced first teamers in every game and still could win the title.

Bonevacia Overtoom and Kappelhof are all first year Jong and have played plenty in the second half of the season so they can develop hopefully . As for the other Jong not sure how many will still be here next season .
Aslan played a lot since January but is 21 and Will also 21 is the only Jong who has played regularly throughout the season .Talk of him being in the first team squad next season but we will see.
Castillion ,still eligible for the A1 has been injured since early February played abit in the first half of the season but did not score many goals and Danilo seems to have faded from the scene since January .

What has price of the team got to do with anything - not first time in history that a team costing millions fails to win a match or a title.

And can you please expand to whom and why Huistra has to explain anything, does any other football manager have to explain to anybody other than their employers why they dont win matches or is the manager of Jong Ajax a special case.

Anyway who says Huistra has full control over squad selection for Jong Ajax anyway. Like most football clubs I am sure that the manager of the 1st team will also have some input to the playing squad for reserve matches depending on injuries, playing time etc for unused players in 1st team squad.

For Jong Ajax to win their title is a nice thing to happen but that is it. I am sure no Ajax fan tonight would be doing cartwheels round their house at hearing they won their respective league - for me anyway what happened yesterday at NEC and the failure once again to land the Eredivisie title is what really counts and to me hurts a lot. i want to see all Ajax teams have success but at end of the day the real success to me and those who follow Ajax that I know is what happens to our first team full squad, the rest is a nice to have but not an essential.

I probably go overboard with my thoughts on our reserves . I agree winning would have been nice but the only thing that matters was winning the eredivisie and I am gutted we did not . Scoring 106 goals
and still not winning it is hard to take in.

I should have said what did Ajax gain from our Jong this season . We do not have much money to spend
and it is vital we continue to produce our own . Very few of the Jong squad have had alot of chances this season and the only youth to break through into the first team Eriksen did not even play for the Jong he went from A1 youth direct.

We have a meer 19 Jong and 19 Youths under contract and you can count on 1 hand those who have played many Jong games. Just those I have listed. I know it is a minor concern with finishing second again in the eredivisie but I do not think we are doing a great job in bringing through youths when half of every Jong team consists of first team spares who are not good enough in most cases to even sit on the bench .

I honestly wouldnt get too worried about 2009/10 in terms of the Jong for the reason that the club overall has been carrying far too much fat for years now in terms of youth IMHO. We had far too many young players on contracts who were not worthy of them. At end of day if a player is honestly good enough he will be in the Jong team or be in 1st team squad. I mean Jol had no problems promoting Eriksen straight away to 1st team as he spotted the potential he had - or should I say felt he was good enough to challenge for a 1st team place. I am sure if our other Jong players or youth were so good they would be in that position.

And that is the worrying thing as a result of our recent coaching / talent spotting structure. How many are actually worth gracing an Ajax 1st team jersey - I dont want somebody to be playing for our 1st team just because they came through the youth system, I want anybody who pulls on a 1st team shirt to be worthy of doing so irrespective if they have been bought or nurtured through the system.

I would just say lets see what happens during the summer in terms of restructuring of both playing and coaching staff at all levels. If Jol waits which I think he will, he will have been there a year and had that year to examine our overall structure and now can put in place something which hopefully benefits club in long term.

The club overall needs stability and from his first year in charge I think Jol can give us that.

A very sound post jamcocteau and I agree with everything you say .

The club have been giving away contracts to far too many youths over the last 2years . In 2008 12 of the Sneijder Bonevacia group were given contracts . 2 of them have hardly played for the A1 team and only Bonevacia and to a minor extent Castillion broke through to the Jong this season. Mind 7or 8 of them are still in Dutch U19 squad so one or 2 may come through .

The current Jong squad appears poor with several players in it who should not have been given contracts .Players destined for the first team rarely play more than 1 season in the Jong which is why the only ones who stand out are Bonevacia, still only 18, Overtoom ,only 19 and Kappelhof now 20 ,all first years . The others have not broken through and should be released and those with a year left loaned out . Probably the most impressive youngster is Suk , although officially a first team he has played mainly at Jong level and he just turned up and asked for a trial.

Anyway I will put away my soapbox on this subject but will wait to see which Jong are released and which members of this years A1 get promoted.

Didn't they feel they had to give these guys contracts so that they didn't get snaffled up by the likes of Chelsea or Arsenal?

I suspect these youth contracts are not nearly as big a problem as contracts given to the likes of Wielaert, Ograru, Luque, etc.

Yes Sneijder Bonevacia etc were all given contracts to stop Chelsea Arsenal poaching . Last summer we gave contracts to 16 year olds in the current B1 team for the same reason .

Until UEFA take a stand against underage transfers this will be an ongoing problem. Even with regulations, the family could pick up and move to a new country circumventing things.

I was having ago at Ajax for their Jong policy but did forget of course that they did unload some players to Haarlem after Christmas ie Padt Martina V d Meulen and Candan were all loaned out and Shakison was about to go with Danilo and Will also wanted when Haarlem sadly went under.
Ajax would then have been left with 12 and not 19 contracted Jong for the second half which would have benefited all parties.

On the subject of signing kids I am not sure offering 16 year olds 3 year contracts of what 30000 euros a year max would stop them going to England . The english clubs offer a lot more than that eg Jeffrey Bruma who Chelsea pinched from Fword before his 16th birthday paid him £3000 per week at 16 .
We have been luck in that none of our recent talent has taken the money and gone to England .The only 2 who left our youth in the last few years was Quincy Owusu Abeyie who joined Arsenal at 16 BUT he got chucked out of Ajax and no one else in Holland would touch him .Jordi Brouwer joined Liverpool about 3 years ago at nearly 19 ,but Ajax were not sure they were going to offer him a contract .(He was stuck in their reserves early last season . Did return last year to loan at RKC did nothing)

decisions on the 12 Jong whose contracts are up are coming very slowly .

Kappelhof has had his option taken up and will be extended to 2011.No surprises there.

Martina will leave and Aslan also is leaving . Candan is on trial at Dordrecht so he too will be leaving .
Still 8 others to be decided on .Ze eduardo, who has been playing for the A1 and not a Jong player is likely to leave and join Parma.

Sergio Padt, who is under contract to 2011 , is looking to loan next seaon so he will get some playing time. Padt is in the Dutch U21 squad but did not get much playing time last season with the Jong as
Verhoeven was signed .He was unlucky as he did get loaned to Haarlem where he played 1 league game before they went under.

NB We are now working with Omniworld ie Almere City to gives it new name, so several players will be there next season .

Jong Ajax are in HongKong for a 7a side touny this weekend.Squad of 9 Heemskerk(A2 goalie),Receveur(also A2), Aslan, V d Meulen, Will, Candan, Lazic,Jongebloet and Aissati.

A1 youths cannot be used as the A1 has atourny this weekend and also 6 A1 are playing for Dutch U19.

With the first team travelling to Curacao I would imagine some of remaining Jong will go with them .

On the contract front Danilo has been offered another 1 year contract but does not want to play Jong footy anymore so may well leave on a free .

Although not confirmed 6 Jong are going to Curacao with the first team .Zeegelaar, Bonevacia, Ozbiliz, Kappelhof , Overtoom and Danilo. I understand Overtoom's contract is being extended to 2011 so that means so far he, Danilo and Kappelhof are offered new deals.

I would imagine the remaining players will go ( Aslan Martina Candan confirmed) . Will, Lazic Jongebloet all going to HK plus Supusepa and Claasen who were also only going to Hk but were injured. These 5 are all 2nd year Jong and the fact they are not with the first team to Curacao must spell the end of their Ajax careers.

Ps You will pleased to know this exhausts my update of youth etc .

Cheers . I notice on the Dutch speaking site they discuss the youth teams down to C1 level ie under 15 's . I just stick to following what goes on at Jong and U 19 level and this season U17's as the B1 team have several contracted players. They are the future of this club .

Sergio Padt appears on his way to Go Ahead Eagles on loan . This will be good for him as he needs regular games. This season he has not played that much for the Jong Ajax but still remains Dutch U21's 2nd goalie(Tim Krul Newcastle sub is the no 1)

Danilo , whose contract expires next month, has been offered an extension but reports state he is likely to join Standard Liege. He was quoted that he did not want to stay at Ajax just to be in the Jong .
He is only just 20 and may develop in time . Ajax could extend and loan him out but would he then be
good enough for our firsts?? I thought he should have been loaned this last season and surely Willem or RKC would have been happy with him . Ajax could then have seen how he looked at the top level . Instead they wasted him in the Jong and now he has had enough .

He isn't good enough, so it won't be a loss. Unbelievable that Ajax wanted to offer him a contract extension (if these reports stating this were right).
