The Helmond Cup

Now gone to Aston Villa as they beat Norwich 4-1 in the league cup quarter final.( A big shock in the other quarter was Bradford City from the 4th level of the league beat a nearly full strength Arsenal on penalties)

With no winter break in England and Villa not being very good I can see the cup moving around England a few times in the next few weeks until one of the teams left in Europe holds the cup and then loses in Europe which wont be until February at the earliest ,when the next rounds take place.

Next up is Liverpool in the Premier League, if I'm not mistaken.

If Ajax draws Liverpool on the 20th, the cup might come to Amsterdam.

We wouldn't play them until February and the way this season is going I think Liverpool will lose the cup before December is out .

The Helmond Cup moved to the English Premier League on October 4th, just over two months ago, but Aston Villa are the sixth holders since that day.

Bit of a shock this one, Chelsea 0 QPR 1 so QPR are now Helmond Cup holders.

It's FA Cup 3rd Round day on Saturday, QPR play West Bromwich Albion so whatever happens the cup will stay in the Premier League (unfortunately....).

Time for an update... We missed two games.

QPR still have the Helmond Cup, which is a bit of a surprise. They're bottom in the league, but have been doing well since they grabbed the Helmond Cup. There you have it: it's magic.

They (surprisingly) won the F.A. Cup replay at West Brom and got a point at West Ham this Saturday.

Next up: F.A. Cup, fourth round, at home against MK Dons.
