I've changed my mind... At first, I expected a suspension (why? because the KNVB are a disgrace and utterly ridiculous, in my opinion). But then I read about the jurisprudence: a 500 euro fine for Gert-Jan Verbeek last season, after a similar incident (and for him, it wasn't the first time). I expect a fine for KJH now.

The KNVB should investigate the quality of their referee corps instead, for fuck's sake.

Amazing how the referees can continue to be shite, but everyone must treat them with reverence. As long as a player doesn't touch a referee or assistant or threaten him/her, a walk on eggshells I say nothing approach is crazy.

I agree the referee sucked dicks, but I'm still pretty convinced that the yellow for Timmer was correct (and I think Leonardo made a bit of a meal out of the challenge, to be honest). It didn't seem close -- there was a defender standing about 6 yards behind Timmer, right in the goal mouth.

However, the rulebook also says that if a player is fouled when he has a clear scoring chance it should be red. In my eyes there was a clear scoring chance, ergo RED.

Here's the rule:

So I was wrong about the "last man" thing. My guess is that, because there was another defender in between Timmer and the goal, and given the distance from the goal, the ref decided that Leonardo didn't have an "obvious goal-scoring opportunity." That's pretty subjective, but it's hardly the worst call made by the official that day.

Goal .com are running a story which is obviously taken from Dutch sites today. KJH's agent has said no talks are scheduled for a contract renewal and rumours that KJH wants a min 17m euros sale price were met with the agent making no comment.The article concludes with KJH is planning to leave for nothing in 2010 at the end of his contract.

If I see any rubbish stories on goal.com about Ajax I always put in my penny worth.

My thoughts on this are that the agent is probably right that nothing has been planned and as for denying the min fee surely that is between the club and his client. Fans usually know about min fees when a player is transfered. eg Babel and Heitinga both had min fees in their last contracts but we did not know the exact sum until both players were sold. Iam sure Babel was sold for more than his min but Heits I believe was sold for the min.(Someone can put me right on this)

I think KJH will move in the summer and Ajax will be lucky to get 20m euros if his contract is not renewed. If he does renew and 17m euros was placed in it I do not think Ajax can complain.

Agree, he will go this summer and won't renew his contract. I could see him conceivably going in the winter if he's back in form and we're out of the UEFA Cup and Eredivisie title contention. I'm not saying he should, but based on the previous track record of dubious sales, I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility.
