OPH and English Eagle - have you seen the Crystal Palace FC Centenary Exhibition in the Croydon Clocktower complex? I was in Croydon today so went along. It's small but worth a visit if you're in Croydon (I wouldn't make a special trip though, even if I was a fan).

Interesting piece in the Independant today on our former hero...

Apparently an anonymous 36 year old Swede has won 122.9 million Swedish kroner (about £9million) on the Swedish lottery. He's single and unemployed and was quoted as saying what he would most like to do with the money was sign his favourite player, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, for his favourite team, Visby IF Gute. Unfortunately as they play in the Swedish Third Division in front of crowds of 600 that seems unlikely but the article does go on to suggest that he might like to spend the £9million on a well known Swedish manager instead...can't think who they have in mind :hypocrite:

No i havent been SE6,ive heard its ok & that the dvd they have produced is excellent.Obviously guys i will be keeping an eye open for what is happening in Amsterdam on tuesday,but please forgive me if im excited by the fact that Palace play Brighton at the same time . . . . .cant wait. :yelclap:

"Man Utd's Ronaldo in rape arrest

Manchester United footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has been arrested on suspicion of rape.

Scotland Yard confirmed a man in his 20s was arrested after reporting by arrangement to a police station.

The Portuguese international is being questioned about claims a woman was sexually assaulted at a central London hotel on 2 October.

Manchester United said it was "not commenting at the moment".

Ronaldo, 20, attended the station and was arrested by officers from the Metropolitan Police's specialist Sapphire team.

He is being held in custody while he is interviewed about allegations made by a woman that she was raped in the penthouse suite of a hotel the day after Manchester United played Fulham.

A man in his 30s also kept an appointment at the police station, but has not been arrested.

BBC crime correspondent Neil Bennett said normal procedure was for the police to interview the alleged victim and alleged perpetrator and send a file to the Crown Prosecution Service to decide whether anyone should be charged."

Maybe it's going to sound horrible, but why Cristiano Ronaldo, a young and pretty handsome multimillionaire footballer playing for Man Utd would rape a 30 years old woman ?? Seems like £££ chasing to me.... But the judge will decide....

In most countries, the number (in percentage terms) of false rape claims is pretty small, much smaller than the number of rapes that go unreported. That said, I would imagine that a rich and famous person is more likely to be the victim of a false claim.

Ultimately, as Bebs said, he is innocent until proven guilty and a judge/jury should decide his fate.

Its a long time ago that I updated you on the progress of Braintree Town FC.

Now is a good time as any, as Braintree Town reached the competition proper of the FA Cup for the first time in their 107-year history. :cheer:

The push for champions league place was postponed a year due to them losing in last season's play-offs.
However, with further progress in the FA Cup this season, who knows they could well find themselves playing in the UEFA Cup next year. :headbang:

OPH Never mind the FA Cup the most important item is the 2-0 defeat back in August down here at Worthing !!!!!!!

To the rest of you guys all around the world OPH and I have local teams in the Ryman Premier league that is the 7th level of league footy over here.
Both teams well up in the top 6.

I might even come up to Braintree on 28 th Jan if you were to be around OPH??

Nice to see there is something in the papers that does not relate to Moan U .

For all of you from outside the Uk we are now saturated by the press with what is wrong with Moan U. Who cares.It is so boring and most of the football fans in this country must be delighted. I do not like Chelsea but all the time the Russian is in charge Moan u are never going to win anything as their American owners just do not have the same finances.

Thank goodness for this messageboard and all you guys discussing this great and magic team from Amsterdam.

Uruguay has suffered a major setback ahead of its World Cup qualifying play-off against Australia with star striker Diego Forlan tearing a muscle in his left leg.

The Villarreal forward sustained the injury in the mid-week Champions League victory against Benfica in Lisbon.

His Spanish club confirmed the extent of the problem before announcing that he is expected to be sidelined for up to three weeks.

Such an absence would rule the 26-year-old out of Uruguay's matches against the Socceroos in Montevideo on November 12 (November 13 AEDT) and Sydney on November 16.

1 week to go until the first leg. Fingers crossed we do OK, as I am off to Sydney for the return leg and dont want the night ruined before it starts by being 3-0 down after the first leg or something similar.

I know we had a quite heated discussion about diving a few weeks ago. Apparently Patrick Vieira doesn't like it either. Nice to see him calling Wayne Rooney out on what was an obvious (and odious) dive last year against Arsenal.

As much as I'm glad Vieira said what he said, it is reminiscent of something about a pot and a ketle. And he does play for Juve, home of some of the biggest cheats out there (their medical staff, for instance).

But it was still nice to hear someone say something about Rooney and van Shitstlerooij.

'Argentina need to cheat more', advises Ruggeri

BUENOS AIRES, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Former Argentina defender Oscar Ruggeri said on Monday that the current side needs to indulge in more time-wasting and gamesmanship.

Ruggeri, who played at two World Cups under Carlos Bilardo, a coach famous for his ruthless win-at-all-costs approach, said his country had become too European in their attitudes.

His comments came after Argentina conceded two late goals and lost 3-2 to England in a friendly on Saturday.

'They say that the Argentine player throws himself to the ground and wastes time and that the balls disappear when they're winning,' he said in a radio interview.

'But at international level, these little things can help you win the match and get through to the next round and we have to work on them.

'The coach (Jose Pekerman) has to spend three days working on these things. If they give away a free kick, the player should lie on the ground, so they bring on the doctor and the stretcher to slow down the game.'

'We have to slow the Europeans down,' he added. 'If there's three minutes to go and you're about to qualify, you don't want to continue playing on equal terms.'
