But this is the reality of today's football. There is no way that the Dutch league can grow revenue. Even if they merge with Belgium (UEFA might frown on that), television money is not going to be appreciably larger. Look at how much money even bad EPL teams make from televison; it's over €100M/year. this is almost the entire Ajax operating budget!! Even a CL finalist, Juventus, sometimes has trouble keeping key players. Do you think they wanted to sell Pogba?rjf1 schreef:According to the board's philosophy, Ajax is a shoe factory - not a football club. Players are only products made on a production line (the youth development system), and when finished put in the show window (the 1st team) to get the best price possible from the prospective customers.
Ajax have tried to brand almost everything they can but unfortunately the club doesn't have the same standing that they did 20 years ago. I live in an international area and one sees lots of caps and shirts of various football teams. I'm probably the only one who regularly wears an Ajax cap.
I don't know if Sanchez stays for an additional season or not. IMO, he's still not a finished player and would benefit from an extra season at Ajax.
