Players of this calibre won't come to Ajax. Ailton is way too expensive, is demanding way too high salary and will probably not fancy a competition of this standard. Totally out of reach.

What about Tevez? :D May be out of reach but he isn't exactly having the time of his life in South America, and I think Maxima could gice him some magic in the ArenA

Latest player who has been linked to Ajax (and Arsenal...again) is defender Jimmy Dixon. Anyone here know him?

Back track in this thread and you'll read what we know.

In short: Liberian defender some years over 20 who plays in Sweden. Pretty good.

Geert den Ouden (ADO Den Haag) was also a superstriker in Sweden.....

True! (perhaps not superstriker but atleast one of the better ones).

But hey, so was Zlatan, right? The question is if you can rise to the occasion.

He is good player (one of the best scorers in Premiership this season), but I don't think he will be better than Rosenberg...

Pfff, I think we have enough youngsters in our team with Sneijder, maduro, Babel, Heitinga, Stekelenburg, Mitea, De Ridder, De Jong and Manucharian. Let's buy someone over 21!!! :eusa_dance:

Why does everyone feel the need to slag poor Yannis. I've not seen a Goals/Assists per minute played table for this season but if there was one then he'd be way up there :eusa_dance:

Please leave Mr Anastasiou alone - he has a new contract and is always gauranteed (how do you spell that word?) to give 100% to the cause :xyxthumbs:

Very good player but not what Ajax needs for their Number 9.

Perhaps because he is not a good enough player at the level we want Ajax to perform at.

Two interesting announcements in this morning's Telegraaf...

1. Malmö FF reportedly rejected Ajax's first bid on Markus Rosenberg. Ajax offered 4 million; Malmö want 6 million. But we're apparently bidding!

2. Ajax have reportedly reached an agreement with Olaf Lindenbergh (AZ) about the terms of his contract. There is no deal with AZ yet.

I hope Ajax don't sign Olaf, he exactly isnt a player I see that can change fortunes. I was hoping for Jansen or Kruijswijk, but they signed new contracts

Lindenburgh is good, he is going to earn his first cap for holland against romania, so we shall see how the 31 year old performs. I dont care if Davids goes to AZ Alkmaar, he cant lift that team single handedly to the top of eredivisie, ok he did it with Barcelona, but they have more qualitiy players then AZ who are going to experience an exodus i.e Kromkamp, Landzaat, Perez etc. Btw we can still sign Kruyswijk (centre back) and Micheal Jansen (left back), the renewal of their contracts only means we have to pay more £££.

:redcard: I don't think I've ever claimed Yannis is the best player on the team but I really do think that he's one of the few "Mr 110%" players that we've had this past season. Whenever I've seen him play it really shows that he's giving his all to the side. He's not the only player to do this but frankly I think he puts to shame some of the more naturally gifted players in the ranks with his efforts in this regard.

I've seen so many players "going through the motions" but not really giving a toss - he doesn't seem that way and that's why I'm glad he's staying. :xyxthumbs:

But why always go for the youngsters? It is maybe a better investment, but Ajax wants to win prizes, right? If we buy a bunch of talents, we will always be seeding, instead of getting a good balanced team. psv is a good example, perfect mix. Ajax can do better than psv, because our youngsters are better then some of psv.

Lindenberg is a good player and is especially good for the atmosphere. He is a bit of a bully. We need that, now the 20-year olds are the boss, that's not good.

I hope also that we can sign a scoring striker.

Defense is pretty good at the moment.
Midfield is very good, if Landzaat could come to Ajax it would be world-class.
Offensive is the biggest concern. Rosales is not a typical Ajax winger. Mitea is very light. Boukhari is simply not good enough.

Well we do need experience, but I have my doubts with Olaf. Maybe I'm wrong, but we'll see

So Blind is signing old players who were never very good in the first place huh?

Why am I getting a sense of déjà vu here?
