Perhaps because Ajax were in the final of the Europa league, and people are still following Ajax, wondering how they are doing

The Four Four Two mag over here doing articles on the 90' s.A good 4 page spread on our great 1995 final team.

Also World Soccer has articles on players and coaches of 2017 .One lovely article on our dear Appie and what might have been.Oh so sad.

On Ajax's popularity most of our current squad are scouted and rumoured to being sold to the big richer clubs .Going
overboard on hype for Justin and Frenkie.

We will always be famous with our academy plus total football and Cruijff.I still believe we are a special club in football and always will be.

If only Ajax can find a decent right back, like a Trabelsi-esque, that would make next season promising in Europe, provided, Erik ten Hag does better than Peter Bosz

What a mesmerising piece on Lasse Schone... He has been at Ajax for almost six years. He has seen it all... Players coming and going.. change of managers, and setbacks, but he still keeps going strong!

Just saw the Man Utd vs Seville game! Unbelievable, they lost at home. Pogba didn't do much when he came on

Great news Manu and Mourinho out. There will be millions of English football fans cheering the name of Sevilla today.

I have never liked Man u even in the days of Best .I do wonder how long before their fans turn on Mourinho and his boring football.

A great piece written last March 2017. The conclusion was well written.

''Football isn’t the same as the days of Michels and Cruijff: it’s much more finance-oriented. Despite the fact that Ajax isn’t in a top league, the structure and tradition provides a rock-solid foundation to becoming a top European team.''

Report: Dutch authorities investigate Raiola's transfer dealings
http://www.calciomercato.com/en/news/re ... ings-66232

Wouldn't it be great if the authorities in the Netherlands punished Raiola so badly, that he lost his license to be an agent of any player in the country!

Wishful thinking.(With any other agent Kluivert would have signed a new contract by now.)

Our LB, Nico Tagliafico, played the full 90 in Argentina's 2-0 win over Italy in a friendly on Friday. Congrats to Nico and let's hope he is the LB on the WC side!!! I need a team to cheer for.

Not a great week for 2 big teams who model their play on Cruijff and the Ajax way.Barca stuffed by Roma and Man City 2nd best in both games to Liverpool.

Under their new coach, Barca don't really play in the same 'Cruiff model' that they used to -- what with Xavi gone and Iniesta having really slowed down, their midfield isn't up to the lightning fast creative passing standard as before. Two things re Man City: 1) Klopp has always been a thorn in Guardiola's side from their days in Germany -- he seems to know just what to do to counter G's tactics; 2) MC have shown themselves to be so much better than the rest of the English sides that they can be guilty of an attitude that all they have to do is line up for the opening whistle and the game is over, and then get burned because of it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rK0z3siTJ28 Good analysis by members of football-Oranje. A very good point regarding Neres, he is way too predictable on the left flank, a half decent left back in European competition can have him in his pockets.

Louis van Gaal says he received a huge offer, but didn't disclose the name of the club. I am going to say, it's Everton, if he does join, he will surely sign Daley Blind. Marcel Brands is likely to join Everton from PSV as well, they have a project coming up.

Interesting documentary on Netherlands - Argentina in the context of the WC '78 during the "Junta's "Dirty War".
In Dutch with English subtitles.

Not relevant in the grand scheme of things, But when Cocu of PSV and van Bronckhorst of Feyenoord started, they got help from Hiddink and Advocaat respectively, ten Hag is different because he has experience, I am going to assume he won't last long, and someone else would take over, e.g. Wim Jonk.. But if he gets help, who would it be from? Please God not Louis van Gaal

van Gaal might end up at Everton and has stated he will only take one more job and if it is not offered this year he will retire completely. Don't know if he would come in as a consultant because of all the "bad blood" during the Cruyff revolution. I think Wim Jonk has burned all the bridges to Ajax.

Tottenham have joined the race to sign West Brom's Egyptian centre-back Ahmed Hegazi, 27

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/gossip

Does this mean they have provisions, in case de Ligt doesn't sign for them? Wait and wonder.....

Four Eerste Divisie talents that should be snapped up by Eredivisie clubs

Ferdi Kadioglu (NEC Nijmegen)

Vitesse Arnhem have been heavily linked with Kadioglu since last summer, but any of the traditional top three would also be making a top signing with the midfielder, who is already a part of Netherlands U21’s squad.

Joey Veerman (Volendam)

Volendam had a poor season which saw them finish 14th, but in Veerman they have one of Netherlands most exciting midfield talents. The defensive midfielder, described as the biggest talent to come out of Volendam since Wim Jonk, has made 70 appearances for the club since making his debut last season, contributing eleven assists and ten goals.
The 19-year-old has now outgrown the Eerste Divisie and needs a move in order to progress further. Utrecht and Vitesse are just two of the clubs interested in the Netherlands U19 international.

Arnaut Groeneveld (NEC Nijmegen)

Blessed with blistering pace, a powerful left-foot and plenty of tricks, Groeneveld is now one of the most sought after players in the Netherlands. Manchester City are said to be interested in signing the 21-year-old before loaning him to NAC Breda. AZ Alkmaar also want the youngster as a possible replacement for Alireza Jahanbakhsh.

Silvester van der Water (Almere City)

Van der Water, who is a tall stylish winger with pace and quick feet that can also play through the middle, will now aim to get a move to the Eredivisie with Utrecht and Heracles reportedly circling.
