when playing for Celta he was called "el peluquero" witch translates to "the stylist" or "the barber". He was known for he´s Dennis Rodman type hair coloring.
I like to describe him as well balanced he's not the ofensive juggernaut that Maxwell was but he´s not as lacking in the defensive department as the former either. He´s a fighter who never gives up on the ball and is quite good in the aerial aspect of the game, i remember a couple of game´s were he scored with good headers.
Now my only worry is that he has not been playing regular football for some time. I dont know up to what extent this will afect his play but one things for sure... at 100 % this guy can get the job done, lets hope for the best.
Greetings to franotica, its nice to have another south american on board, and even more if its a female. Franotica are you a Sao Paulo fan ????

I like that nickname. Perhaps it can be translated to Dutch: "de kapper." :eusa_dance:Venezuelan Ajacied schreef:when playing for Celta he was called "el peluquero" witch translates to "the stylist" or "the barber". He was known for he´s Dennis Rodman type hair coloring.
The good news is that, because there is such a dropoff in talent after the big two, there will be lots of games for him to work hisn way back to form.Venezuelan Ajacied schreef:Now my only worry is that he has not been playing regular football for some time. Juanfran was interviewed in Talpa's daily Eredivisie News and he said that he has good hopes to be match-fit for Ajax's next home game, the 21 September midweek fixture against ADO Den Haag. That's the game he's going for. He's currently still following a special training schedule in order to get fit.

According to the daily Eredivisiejournaal on Talpa TV Juanfran will make his début in the Ajax jersey this evening in the Gatorade Cup fixture between Young Ajax and Cambuur Leeuwarden!
The Eredivisie game against ADO Den Haag comes a little bit too early. Ajax Netwerk reports that Juanfran focuses on Saturday's home game against Roda.
I will go to the Young Ajax cup fixture tonight. Check Ajax USA around midnight (CET) for a match report of the Young Ajax game!

I'll repeat the 'big news' here...
Juanfran played for Young Ajax last night (against Young Heerenveen, a game that was painfully lost once again: 0-3). The Spaniard was sent off in the 83rd minute for an 'elbow' in the face of an opponent. I didn't know it, but Ajax Netwerk claims that his suspension will also keep him sidelined for Ajax-1 (perhaps because it's a 'direct' red card? I don't know).
Anyway - that's bad news.

Hmmm, Chivu also started his journey in Ajax from a red card, so maybe it is good sign for the future? I hope so. I haven't seen this game and I don't know why did he hit his opponent... Maybe it was accidental blow when, for example, they jumped to the high ball? If yes, we shoudn't blame Juanfran for that. If no (I mean: if it was premeditated) it might be :redcard: for his future play in Ajax...Kowalczyk schreef:I'll repeat the 'big news' here...

I was having the exact same thought....he really knew how to use them elbows, didn't he?Over Pasanens Head schreef:A player who elbows another player in the face - surely not at Ajax :hypocrite:
Rather than compare him to Chivu, maybe we should compare him with a certain player who now plys his trade at Juve.
Anyways, I'd have a guy who does that over a a scared little mouse who always plays nice and never wins. Sad, but that's the way it is.

He is a very emotional, intense player, i think thats good in a player, the :redcard: is bad, and by no means i'm saying that it was something good, but its good to see that sort of passion if you will, just dont overreact and use youre head next time ( not literaly ;) ) Juanfran.
BRING IT ON !!!!...
I'm afraid I can not agree with you. It only shows that he probably is an idiot. Besides his team lost 3-0, so he may not be so brilliant a defender ...Per schreef: Anyways, I'd have a guy who does that over a a scared little mouse who always plays nice and never wins. He has to undestand that that Gentile era is over.

Thing is, being a good team player and a winner, cometimes constitutes doing things not socially acceptlable outside of the pitch.
We had a discussion about Neeskens more or less scaring opponents into playing badly throughout games some weeks ago.
If they're in your team, you love 'em, if they're not, you hate them. But these kinds of players that don't back down from tough situations are ofter winners for their team. And we need winners, by god we need winners.....

Glad you are coming around to my way of thinking Per - You are so right - lets get Sikora back now :cheer:Per schreef:Yeah, with kicks, bites and elbows :xyxthumbs:philippe schreef: Above all, we have a reputation of fair play and entertaining football we must defend.

Sorry Bryan, I forgot about your Avator :D . I admit Roy has certain "qualities", just not sure they're Ajax one's.bryan schreef:Hey, don't knock the great man. Indeed, his contract is up in June 2006.
Imagine him and Sneijder in midfield together. Poor Wesley would be scared shitless.
