I don't think I'm even going to bother going to the home game, my mind can no longer cope with those levels of tedium. The Inter goaly rolls the ball out to the defender, and you've got time to go to the loo, phone your wife, get a new Arena card, cue up for a cup of coffee and a burger, and make your way back to your seat before the ball crosses the half-way line.

No thanks.

...and you just know what's going to happen. Inter will score a break-away goal in the 27th minute, and then proceed to shut up shop for the rest of the game. They will then miss no opportunity to waste-time, cheat and steal the game - pausing from their 'play-acting-serious-injury' routine only long enough for Marco Matterazzi to kick seven kinds of shit out of Markus Rosenberg.

Ajax shouldn't even waste time playing the game. They should just send a fax to Inter tonight, saying...

"Ok, you win you cheating, conniving, play-acting, bastards, so just stay home. Good luck trying to beat a real football team in the Q.F.'s"

Save some money on flights and hotel bills.

Come on guy's i'ts not that bad, i mean i really think we have a chance in this one, kick the history and the rescent results aside for a moment and you'll see that Inter is not a whole lot diferent than us. Look at they're group in the last round, Porto,Artmedia and Rangers that was the second easiest group after our's yet they struggled and had some stressful moments, they took a loss against Porto 0-2, Tied against Artmedia and tied against Rangers, all except one of their win's were by a one goal margin(4-0 against Artmedia) and they had a hard time in almost every game.Out of all the Italian's this one would be my choice the, best of the worst if you will.
To cut things short what im trying to say is that Inter though a good team is a very Inconsistent team as well, if Adriano is having a bad day they are going to suffer that is what happened in the first stage when Adriano had to be benched.
It's a knock out round anything can happen, let's hope Adriano does not show up for the game  .

Faith guy's, in the end that all we have left ;)

F*** = my sentiments exactly. I was in the ArenA in November 2002 for the last Ajax-Inter CL home tie.F*** Hernan Crespo and Marco Maternazi. Can't believe I'd subject myself to this again, but I'll be in the ArenA on the night. Message to Ajax: no more white flags at the seats . I feel like I'm surrendering.

I was under the impression that Inter was one of the more attack-oriented Italian teams. One of the Brits on this board (OPH or SPL, I think) is a fan. I'm sure he'll be along to make Inter's case.

In any event, Inter do have some good attacking players. I think both Obafemi Martins and Adriano are top notch.

Hey, if Australia can beat Uruguay over 2 legs to get to the World Cup, then Ajax CAN beat Inter to get to the 1/4s.

HI AVESLACKER

OPH is the Inter fan. I have never been a fan of Italian football but OPH is our man in Milan as he goes over to see them.

PS The only time I would want an Italian side to win is when they play Moan U.

Come on Mark! It's not going to be that bad! The perfect performance at home, winning one or two nil, and a tight performance at the San Siro will see us through. They are weak defensively, especially to balls over the top! Take notice Mr Blind!

Why is the 2nd leg a week later than all the rest of the ties?

AC Milan play Bayern the same day of Inter-Ajax.

About the draw: it's cool. Everybody starts from zero.

Uninformed prediction of the round: Ajax win on away goals 1-1. Goalscorer in Milan: Grygera.

they would if UEFA hadn't moved the 2nd leg to a latter date.

my prediction: 0 - 0 in amsterdam. 0 - 1 in milan, in inter's favor.

Milan and Inter both play at home in the return. Milan ended higher in the Serie A last season so Inter had to move their date to the 14th.

But it does matter (to us) because Ajax are playing Psv on the 12th...

Right, thanks.

But still, Milan are playing on the 8th and the Inter match would be on the 7th...

I'm thinking of coming over for the away leg in Italy. Does anyone know how easy it is to get tickets? (I know that the Italians don't generally take the CL group games very seriously and that crowds are very small but does that mean that Ajax get more tickets?)

Well, I think I might try for home game instead (or even as well :bis: ). OPH was quick off the mark in correcting my incorrect assumption re poor Inter ticket sales.

Ko, any idea how easy it's going to be to get a ticket for the home game?

Just a quick note with some statistics to support what a number of you have been saying about Inter being such a boring Italian team.
Out of 17 games in one of the hardest leagues in Europe they have scored:-

5 goals on 1 occasion
4 goals on 2 occasions
3 goals on 3 occasions
2 goals on 5 occasions
1 goal on 4 occasions
have failed to score on 2 occasions.

So there we have it - Inter are bloody boring - what a shame we cannot be as boring :headbang:

Not too hard. I don't think it will sell out completely. Almost, but not completely. If we try early it shouldn't be a problem.

Okay, so Inter are not a boring team and their fans do not stay at home for Champions League games (that's Juventus, remember?), but having said that: getting tickets in Milan for games at the San Siro is a piece of cake, if only because the away end is so enormous that it never sells out. We get the whole bottom tier behind goal. Even if 10,000 Ajax fans make the trip it won't be full.

Last time we played Inter we bought our tickets for the away end via Ajax, here in Amsterdam. It was one of the 'swap tickets' (the Ajax system, as you know) and it was quite expensive: some 45 euros, if I remember it correctly.

In Milan we went to San Siro the day before the game, to visit the AC Milan & Inter Museum, and there were scalpers everywhere, selling tickets for the away end (the same ones that we had) for about 8 euros. Even if you can't find tickets for the away end, it's still a piece of cake to get tix for some of the quiet home sections. Dave B. and Andy did it for the Milan quarter final in 2003. No probs at all.

Outside the San Siro it is harder to avoid the scalpers than it is to find them.

K.

Do we have any information on who would be next if we manage to knock Inter out ?

Is it a draw again ?

Or do we play the winner of another already known game ?

After this round it will be a real 100% draw, no seeding, no same country banning, nothing...We could face any team from Barcelona to PSV.

Count me in for the home leg v. the definitely NOT BORING Inter. For some reason,Dutch authorities are permitting my re-entry to the Netherlands.Just purchased match tickets for Ajax v. Roosendaal on 19. 2 and Ajax v. Inter on 22.2.My match tix came to 155 euros total, including 95 for the CL match thru Budget tickets.nl. Figure the cost is actually less than Ajax Travel. Staying in a double at the Hortus from 18. 2 to 23.2 if any out of towner needs a place to crash.

Ajax loses in milan with 0-1 but wins at home with 3-1, so we will advance. then in the next round i expect to face Barça which we win aswell.. after that i woke up
