Bsically states that about 100 Feyenoord were at the chicken koop protesting about the boards running of the club and to protest at the buying and selling of players.

If you read any of their forums they are not happy about this transfer at all.

In a 4-3-3 lineup he was our only sub, and even with little play time he could score some goals. Huntelaar is being tightly marked now and god forbid something hapens to him or we are going to be in a lot of trouble. Can he harm us playing for F-word ???? No, he's just not good enough.Fword aint good enough but i'm looking inward rather than outward and i think this leaves us in a somewhat precarious position.

Was this the reason Angelos played against Nac ?? We were showing him of then ??

Where in that quote did I mention anything about this season and last season - nowhere what so ever. That came from your own reckoning and it is not there my friend.

My point is that over the last 30 years and longer, Ajax have sold far far better players than him and survived and will continue to do so. Is that clear enough for you.

Charisteas is a nice guy, but even then he can get pissed off. He didn't get enough playing time bla bla, and he doesnt understand enough of the rivalry between Feyenoord and Ajax, so going there was an option for him.

We've got KJH, Rosenberg, Babel, and Manucharyan, we're still safe.

Dubbel schreef:True, Harry was a good sub. But we still have Babel, Manucharyan and Rosenberg to back up KJH or to play 442. I say we will survive.
i agree, but none of them offer the physical aspect that charisteas does. and frankly, i think charisteas is a better striker than all of them except KJH of course.

You may have noticed that since the policy of the club (partly due to unwanted circumstances) is to sell our best players we experience some difficulties in international competitions.
But as you say we survive.
That's a relief.

Selling to our direct competitor is not what can be called a clever move.

You could also argue that it was actually Feyenoord that plugged the hole on an enemy ship. We had too many strikers and that was bound to cause unrest later in the season.
Ajax has wanted to sell Harry for a long time now and Feyenoord have made that possible.

Once again with you it is getting ridiculous, please reread my posts. The first line in my first post states that I am not happy that he has been sold to Feyenoord either but then as I go onto state is he such a big loss.

Re the survival bit, yes Ajax shall continue and whether we have Charisteas or not is totally irrelevant. If you honestly think that the club is going to fall apart at the seam because we have sold a player who is not a first team regular then good, that is your opinion and you are welcome to it. For me, we sold someone who was not good enough to be a starter but useful as a substitute. Players like that come and go but yes, at the end of the day Ajax will survive and I honestly believe that yes, we have sold far better players than him and not went downhill as a result.

If he was that good a player he would have been a first team regular, he was a squad player that is it at the end of the day.

Feyenoord may wish that they are our direct competitor, but they aren't end of story. PSV are our main competitor in Holland.

Correct, but I think it say's more about the quality, and in in one instance, age, of players we are trying to offload than anything else.

Christ now you really are being picky arent you. 10 years ago we sold nearly a whole bloody team of World Class players so of course we would go downhill. No club could expect to lose that number of world class players and still be at the top. Charisteas is not a world class player, christ is he even Ajax class.

My point is that Charisteas is one player, not even a first team regular - is his sale going to affect us that badly. I personally dont think so - we sell Huntelaar, it is a different story completely. We have lost players of more abilty than Charisteas over the years and has it made the club go into a downward spiral, no. We lose a group of genuine world class players at one time, of course it effects us - Kleivert, Davids, De Boers etc etc as it would effect any club.

So you are now comparing the sale of an Ajax squad player to the sale of genuine world class players. Get real. This goes back to your point about who we are selling to as well. If Charisteas was so good and so valuable, why were that mob of shit from Rotterdam the only club to put in a serious bid for him. Yannis goes to Sparta because it is a club that he can play for. Would Milan or Barca buy him - not a hope. Same with Piennar, De Jong - they have been picked up by clubs who want them and rate them. Not one of these 4 players mentioned will ever end up at one of the top European clubs, why because they dont have the ability.

My point is and please understand it - Ajax are going to be no better or no worse off for the sale of one squad player called Angelo Charisteas. I am not happy he has went to Feyenoord but at the same time we have some more cash that can be spent on another player in the winter break.

Financially, Ajax are a small club (on an international scale). Always have been, always will be. That is why international glory for Ajax will always be incidental.

1971-1973, 1987-1988, 1992-1996... Those eras were very pleasant incidents in Ajax history. And who knows there will be another incident in the future. But you can't blame Ajax for slipping away from the top after such unlikely peaks.

Totally agree, but I was unfortunate to convert to an Ajax fan back in 1996, commencing season 1996-97, so I missed out on the glory :nooo:

Doubtful, Babel is more versatile than Charisteas, and is good at his positions. Charisteas is hardly even good in a 4-4-2 system, so I would even pick Babel over Chari.
