My Ajax predictions have been terrible so far, but my PSV predictions haven't been that far off, actually...

'Vooral vorig seizoen heeft Ten Cate twijfels uitgesproken. Hij reageerde vanuit emotie. Hij heeft daarvoor ook zijn excuses aangeboden. Koster is duidelijk. We besteden veel aandacht aan de tegenstander. Veel video-analyse. De vorige trainer deed dat bijna helemaal niet, met video.'
I copied this quote out of the Maduro thread in the Dutch langauge forum. Basically, Maduro is saying that:

Ten Cate expressed his doubts [about Maduro] a lot last season. He reacted out of emotion. He also apologized alot. Koster is obvious. We spend a lot of time thinking about the opponent. Lots of video-analysis. The last coach almost never used video.

This is kind of surprising, but it might explain why Ajax repeatedly failed to get results against teams that they should have crushed last season. And it is yet another reason why I am slightly optimistic about Adrie Koster.

Sorry to nitpick, but I guess that duidelijk could be more translated more accurately to "clear", as in "Koster is clearer in his explanations".

Yeah, that's a better translation. Thanks. :1evil.gif:

I can decypher dutch to some extent, but that's not the point.... Just that "Koster is obvious" didn't make sense to me (my english being far from perfect), so I proof-checked on Babelfish, which in turn translated it as "clear". I then decided to post a message to let other people know about it. As simple as that.

Like I said, it was a quick translation. It makes a lot more sense as "clear" instead of "obvious."

Dat is duidelijk. :headbang.gif:

The Sport Journal on Ned3 last night described the latest goings on.

Apparently Louis v G and the owner had a heart to heart and decided to part at the end of the season (after what has always been seen as a love in for the last couple of years). LvG had blown up with the players after the morning training session and said he'd had enough.

Anyway, apparently the players were very upset about him leaving and have asked the owner to get Louis to stay. They have promised to pull their act together and improve to convince LvG to stay. LvG was said to be very touched and proud and has agreed to wait to see how the season finishes before confirming his departure.

Suffice it to say, AZ is a bit of a soap opera at the moment ....

Regarding the AZ situation, that is one thing I am thankful for, that no matter how bad the situation is this year with Ajax, it still doesn't seem as bad as AZ's troubles. I for one, am particularly glad Ajax has been able to pretty much steer clear of the political infighting between players/coaches/management. For the most part, Ajax's problems seem to be mostly with the fans and management, and the team really has done well in spite of all the things this year. There's still a glimmer of hope :biggrin.gif:

Ronald Koeman has won his first trophy with Valencia.
The King's Cup was won versus Getafe.
Makes things interesting as L'Equipe said he'd get fired today...

Players have been complaining he's not a very good coach, just like other club's.

Amazing when you look at his trophy cabinet and the think about the almost universal dislike the players and fans show from the teams he's managed.

He's a star isn't he :drecul.gif: . No doubt he'll turn up at some other "ambitious" club next season anyway - some people just never stay down (and some club boards never look further than the nearest big name)

Koeman spills all on Valencia
aka - Koeman has a sook.

The last line is a classic:
"If I had stayed with PSV I could have become the coach of Holland or Barcelona. I know I was on the shortlist of both."

God help Barca and/or the Dutch national team if that ever comes true.

Why is that? He's won something like seven titles or cups in eight years.

He's also the most successful Ajax manager since van Gaal...

He's a master at surfing on the platform laid down by a previous coach; Co Adriaanse at Ajax, Hiddink at PSV. At Benfica they had won the league the previous year, Valencia was in the top 4 in Spain before he took over. Anyway, He has left every club in worse shape than it was when he arrived.

I can actually see ten Cate staying at Chelsea (although with Abramovich, he could be just as easily gone).

To me it seemed like at the time he was brought in because of his Barca connections (especially the ties to Rijkaard/Ronaldinho) and at least part of Chelsea's goal was to lure some of that talent away. With the way things have gone at Barca, it looks like they may have never needed him and people could be going that way this summer regardless.

I'm just glad he got see CL football from August to May and got knocked out twice. :drecul.gif:
