From a Celtic supporter with a long-term interest in your famous club.
I was wondering if anyone could be of some assistance. I'm looking to source the Ajax Away Shirt of 2002/03 (I think, the light blue one).
In short, I have all the recent shirts except this one which I feel is the best of the lot.
So, where do you go to ask about such things? Thought I would start with the experts!
Good luck in the pursuit of PSV for the title, having attended the 2001 CL Qualifier I'd be delighted to return to Amsterdam again for a match between our respective clubs on Europe's biggest stage.

My girlfriend got me one just like the one Blind's wearing in the picture below, for my birthday (except that mine doesn’t have the sponsor printed on it). That was one of the coolest and most thougtful gifts I’ve ever received. I fell in love with her all over again that day. What a woman. :DKowalczyk schreef:Wow - that looks pretty cool!
It's not an exact replica of the 86-87 one, though. The shirt had a V-collar that season:

Cheers for your help, JC.
Now I was only 2 years old when that game happened, but my father was at the first leg and always raved about the performance of the Ajax side that night ( I think Celtic were fortunate to escape will a 2-2 draw).
We won in the return match 2-1, I think. Charlie Nicholas scored the winner.
I'm on the hunt(elaar) for that shirt now!
Hail! Hail! The Celts are here!
Gie yersel a guid slap bigtrainpete - it was George McCluskey who scored a somewhat lucky winner for Celtic. :xyxthumbs:bigtrainpete schreef:Cheers for your help, JC.

Do you mean this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... &rd=1&rd=1 or the Celtic one.bigtrainpete schreef:

If it's this one expect to pay about £100 or so - I'm looking for one of those too!

Celtic acquitted themselves well. Just hope they don't hang their heads. C'mon Bhoys , no time like the next match to get the frustrations out . A fine win in the Old Firm Derby at the weekend would help soothe the pain .

As is often the case, one bad result follows another!Blind3 schreef:Celtic acquitted themselves well. Just hope they don't hang their heads. C'mon Bhoys , no time like the next match to get the frustrations out . A fine win in the Old Firm Derby at the weekend would help soothe the pain .
The Bhoys were heroic in Milan. Everyone knows the quality of their side and the difficiencies in ours but I don't think we could have given more. In Darren O'Dea (who just signed a new contract) we have a centre-half of massive potential - he can achieve anything he wants in the game.
Sunday was typical. We played Rangers off the park for the first 45 minutes, technically superior. However, if you don't take your chances you will eventually get punished. No complaints whatsoever. When the game reached the last twenty minutes, we have nothing to give.
Thats football guys, thats all it is. Onwards.

How did it work?
As I was reading Ko's J.C. post, it got me thinking about something I've always wondered about. How did J.C. come to (or was allowed to) wear the #14 jersey? It wasn't too long ago that all the starters were assigned #1-11. Was that just something that teams all did or was it a rule to have those specific numbers?
Would love any info on the jersey assignment days and specifically J.C.

@Roche, sorry for the poor translation but I trust that you can still get the essence. He wanted to keep the number because he desired to de different. In the season 1969-1970 Cruijff had to again win success with Ajax by again twice, but at the beginning of season 1970-1971 Cruijff had been long-term injured. On 30 October 1970 Cruijff made its rentree against PSV. In this game he carried not its fixed back number 9, but number 14. As from that moment this its fixed number at Ajax and the Dutch team were. Usually the starplayer wants a number for the basis plough: not higher than eleven. Cruijff kept its old number. In the football world knows everyone thus immediately who is meant with number 14.

I'm not a big of this one but it's ok. Will probably buy the away shirt of this season, it will be cheaper and nicer...

Having complained this time last year that the away kit was horrible (and then going out and buying one - I changed my mind!), I actually quite like this one.Cedric_AeF schreef:You can see the new away shirt for next season here : http://shirt.ajax.nl

Will we have a new shirt sponsor by next season though? I don't spend much (any) time reading/watching the business news but I do know talks on ABN's merger with the dreaded Barclays Bank are ongoing. I will be seriously p-ed if we are advertising them next season....

Sorry SE16 but this is bringing a wry smile smile to my face - the thought of you wearing the new dark blue Ajax away top with in small letters across top "Royal Bank Of"and then plastered right across the chest in large letters the word "Scotland", now that is à lovely thought mate. :headbang:
Nice of the kit designers and Ajax admin to make the away top the same colour as the Scottish national jersey - maybe they know something that those in charge of ABN are unaware of.
O would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us.
ABN AMRO should be rolling in do-ra-mi $$ . The amount of money those bastards charge me per month in mortgage payments should allow us to purchase Ronaldinho . :D Seriously, I saw the new kit on ArenAVision today. Not a stunner, but not the soiled underwear fiasco of several years ago either. I'll probably go for it.

Well, I'd have no problem with the Royal Bank or even with Scotland on the shirt. I think they market themselves as "RBS" now anyway. My thing about Barclays is political (I have a long memory re their involvement in Aparteid South Africa). Why can't we be sponsored by Colgate-Palmolive and have "Ajax" on the shirt?jamcocteau schreef:Well if the other coy who are now making a bid for ABN get their way you will be even more pissed off :DSE6Ajacied schreef:Cedric_AeF schreef:You can see the new away shirt for next season here : http://shirt.ajax.nl
