New Players for Ajax

I love Davids tenacity. He's just the type of steel and grit we've not had in MF since, dare I say his name, Jan van Halst. My only question : Is he disruptive? His attitude was mentioned as a reason for not being brought in to the National side. He's not of Van Nistelrooy's reported temperament, but difficult.

I would like to see rather Kromkamp than Melchiot (but why not both of them?)... I can't imagine that Kromkamp would like to stay one season more in Liverpool after at most 10 games played (or did I miss something?). Transfer to Ajax will be good option for him, and for us. Trabelsi will probably leave us, so we need good, experienced wing back, and Kromkamp seems to be ideal candidature (at the moment ofcourse, I hope that our board is still looking for someone).orange goblin schreef:As you may know, Krompkamp seems to have said that he wants another season at liverpool.
van geel is reported to have turned his eyes on the good old mario melchiot, 29 years old that doesn't want to extend his contract with birmingham city. as far as I am concerned I have nothing against: solid defender, expert, not a runner like trabelsi but not a shy, inoffensive defender.

The way I see it, is that we have had a clearout of around 9 players: Lobont, Vonk, Trabelsi, Escude, Grygera, Maxwell, de Jong, Galasek, Pienaar, Charisteas, Anastasiou. Therefore we should sign similar amount in important positions, e.g. Genteneer, Kromkamp, Ogaruro, Stam, Gusev, Landzaat, Davids, Krohn-Delhi and Perez. I know we signed four of these already but the other five would be of invaluable signings, e.g. 2 right backs, a left back, an anchor man, and an attacking midfielder, who can play on the rightside of midfield.

What about Heitinga right back? Then Vermaelen can go centre-back next to Stam, Vermaelen's had a good season I think...then again, if that happens we need some more cover for the centre-back positions. A young player who could be built up to replace Stam...not sure who though.
Davids would be a great buy btw.

I doubt he's gonna get a starting place, though. I think he was brought along because of is ability to play in several positions (full-back, centre-back, even defensive midfield). The starting lineup will probably be: Kromkamp-Bouhlarouz-Mathijsen-Van Bronckhorst. Kromkamp is looking vulnerable, though; he's no longer in his AZ form.

It was inevitable. Henk ten Cate is barely in as manager and the rumours about new signings are on the net . For the .02 they're worth, unless later confirmed of course, here goes: Ajax Netwerk and Voetbalzone reporting both the Steaua RB Ogararu and Barcelona MF Gabriel Garcia de la Torre, a.k.a. Gabri, as targets of the new boss.Gabri as rumoured replacement for Galasek? I say this because he is listed as right mf on the Voetbalfocus site.

Yep, it's a strange decision. Gabri didn't play regular last season and as far as I remember 2 years ago was exactly the same. At the moment I'm against that signing. It would be definietely better to buy Jan Kromkamp. He is dutch player, so it won't be problems with language etc.
But for now it is still a rumour - nothing sure. It's obvious that ten Cate wants to buy the best player for his vision, and is still watching a few players. If Gabri is a kind of player that coach wants to have - we can't do anything to persuade him that he should change his decision. Ten Cate could observe him almost every day in Barcelona, so he knows much more than we...

Ogararu is more of a target of Martin van Geel's. Him and Piet Keizer have watched him numerous times and seem to be confident that he's the new rightback for Ajax.Blind3 schreef:It was inevitable. Ten Cate said that he thought Ajax still needed about three new signings (besides the ones already made ofcourse). Me and a lot of the guys from the Dutch forum are hoping that he means three players that will strengthen the starting eleven right away will still be signed and that Ajax will sign a few prospects as well.
I've never been too impressed with Gabri myself. He's rarely played for Barcelona since they've been doing well over the past few years. Partly because of injuries, but surely also because of a lack of quality. I don't think he has the type of qualities that would bring something extra to the Ajax midfield.
Kriztián Németh is the Hungarian prospect that they're talking about (I've only read about one). He seems to be quite the goalscoring prospect. Steef described him as the Huntelaar type. He's only 17 though, so I doubt he'll be brought in as one of the three new signings Ten Cate talked about today.
He is also mentioned in this article from UEFA.com bij Wim Koevermans:
U17 standards are rising
There is much for everyone to learn at the UEFA European Under-17 Championship, including for coaches. Smoothing that process are two experienced trainers, Hungary's Dr György Mezey and Wim Koevermans of the Netherlands, who are acting as technical observers to help prepare the UEFA Technical Report.
Two to watch
"We go into the teams, look at how they play, how the tournament goes," Koevermans told uefa.com. "This is done for any tournament, even the UEFA Champions League. We watch both groups, do diagrams of their formations, highlight the better players." And unsurprisingly, he picks out the two group winners as the ones to watch ahead of Thursday's semi-finals. "Spain have shown they are the strongest team in the tournament with Germany, with good individual players. It is the final everybody wants to see. They want the ball, they want to put pressure on their opponents. And they are nice to watch."
Clinical Germans
Spanish duo Bojan Krkić and Aarón ÑÃguez have especially impressed Koevermans, who also saw Germany pip a Netherlands side he helps coach to the finals. "The biggest difference is goalscoring ability," Koevermans said. "They have a very well-balanced team, strong defenders who like to come up, not just the full-backs but the central defenders, which you do not see too often any more. In midfield the Bender twins attack but fight back for the ball and Toni Kroos is more of a playmaker. Up front [Marko] Marin is good at holding the ball and dribbling, and [Manuel] Fischer is a real striker, he is really good in the box or running off the ball. Even their substitutes are of a high standard."
Tall Czechs
He has also seen much to praise in the other Group B contenders. "The Czech Republic have very tall players and use quick balls looking for strikers and good crosses. Serbia and Montenegro are very skilful as well, very adventurous players, but they struggled against the Germans. Belgium had to start against the Germans and were a bit overwhelmed by the TV and the crowds. We don't always consider these factors as coaches. But they have a nice team, they are very tight and very fast on the counter."
Unlucky Hungary
As for Group A: "Hungary and Russia are usually difficult to beat, they are good in defence and counterattack, and you saw that in this tournament. Hungary were a bit unlucky to lose to Russia as they created chances, but it is about scoring goals and not conceding. Germany and Spain have a few players that can score, and that's the difference." However, Hungary's Krisztián Németh, Vladimir Koman and Ã
