Just got my ticket in the post this morning for the Villa game.
There's a big warning attached to it saying about this being a home area of the ground only and away supporters will be refused admission so I think my lucky Ajax shirt will definately be worn underneath something else (though I'll definately wear it).
I've not been to a Premier League game or bought tickets by post in years so I don't know but I assume this sort of blurb is pretty standard these days - I'm certainly not going to get refused admission though just for trying to make a point by wearing my shirt - there are subtler ways of showing my support

If you think that you'll be the only Ajax supporter in Block C...think again! You will be pleasantly surprised when you get there.....and I bet that you don't sit still for the Ajax goals.....!!!
Be Proud.....Midlanders aren't that bad.....they might sound bad, but they won't harm you...honest!!!

I'm definitely up for it but I won't be at Villa before 6 due to work commitments. I'll leave you my mobile by PM and will find you guys where ever you are. Looking forward to it big time! My first European Ajax game since AC Milan!

No idea - I'll be there first I expect so will try to find a decent pub. Raymon and I have swapped mobile numbers by pm so I can send mine to you too.SaddlerIan schreef:
Sure....I'll try and get there on time...Where about's are you thinking of?
Seeing as you're the "local" can you suggest anywhere btw, if not I'll just look at some fan sites for a decent "away" pub near the ground.
I'll send you a pm anyway - let me know if you don't get it.

It depends where you sit, really. If you sat where my season ticket is, you wouldn't have a problem (so long as you were relatively respectful).
The problem, as someone else said, will be that if you wear any Ajax colours, they won't let you in. If they see you in them during the match, they'll throw you out.
If you celebrate goals, they'll possibly throw you out, too (if someone makes a complaint).
We're a pretty friendly lot, really, but it is best to take no chances with rules and regulations.
The Cap and Gown is the away pub near the ground, but I would suggest drinking in the city centre.SE6Ajacied schreef:No idea - I'll be there first I expect so will try to find a decent pub. Raymon and I have swapped mobile numbers by pm so I can send mine to you too.SaddlerIan schreef:

Lots of decent pubs there. Aston is a pretty run down area.

Right. Congratulations everyone. We just qualified for the knock-out stage of the UEFA Cup.
Slavia Prague - HSV: 0-2
Aston Villa - Zilina: 1-2
I think we can actually win the group now. Which would be kind of cool, as we will then be paired with a #3 from another UEFA Cup group.

The weird thing about the current UEFA Cup structure is that it's actually a better idea to finish 3rd than 2nd in your group.
Numbers 3 play a UEFA Cup group winner, whereas numbers 2 get a Champions League drop-out.
That was our dilemma a few years ago. We could have let Zulte Waregem beat us, but we didn't: we went for the win, won by the score of 0-3... and got Werder Bremen, who came straight from the Champions League. They'd finished third in the strongest group of the whole lot, only just behind FC Barcelona and Chelsea... The numbers 2 from our UEFA Cup group had a much easier draw in the first knock-out round, is what I remember.
Anyway - winning the group would be great. Let's go for a large win. Nothing to lose anyway.

So if we can break out a bit against Slavia and score a few goals--like a 4-1 or 3-0, we'll probably win the group
