Re: Luis Suárez
As usual I give you my wishlist: ogararu, silva, oleguer, lindgren, wielaert, kennedy. maybe cvitanich, but only if to be replaced. (oh well, castillion and bodul are the future in CF and huntelaar is being wasted at the Rossoneri...)
And bring here the onyewu from Ac Milan.
7 going-1 or 2 coming. would be perfect.

Re: Luis Suárez
Oneywu has an injured knee and is not likely to be fit until March at the earliest. Don't think we want to buy him at this point. Huntelaar is a dream that won't come true as we don't have €15-20 million that it would take. As to the others, I think we need to do this as a fire sale and forget making a profit out of any of the above (though I would keep Oleguer as a back up in central defense). The sooner we unload them the better for the bottom line even if we take a loss.orange goblin schreef:As usual I give you my wishlist: ogararu, silva, oleguer, lindgren, wielaert, kennedy. maybe cvitanich, but only if to be replaced. Re: Luis Suárez
Latest rumor is that Athletico Madrid is asking €45 million for Kun Aguero. Since Luis is almost as good, Ajax needs to hold out for €35 million to get a fair price. Don't think many teams will step up for that amount!

Nice story by Ernst Bouwes about whether Luis can break Coen Dillen's goal scoring record that has stood for over 50 years. It's on Soccernet http://soccernet.espn.go.com/feature?id ... pe&cc=5901 .

Re: Luis Suárez
He has extended his contract by a year to 2013. Maybe he fancies another season ?? Depends on who bids for him this summer.

Re: Luis Suárez
This is very good news no matter what happens, but I still think he will leave Ajax in the summer (but for a higher fee than we would have gotten without this contract renewal).
We'll see. As I said: this new deal is good news, no matter what.

Re: Luis Suárez
And there is no limited transfer fee either so we can still sell him for a hugh bid.
So in one week Luis has been involved in us signing a new player, has extended and is happy for Ajax to sell him for as much as they can get. For someone who is an incomer and not a local from our youth academy I think that is great credit to the guy.

Re: Luis Suárez
Extending his deal makes me wonder if Luis wants to play one year with Nicolas Ledeiro .

Re: Luis Suárez
You guys probably know that I'm not Suárez's greatest fan, but this does indeed seem to be very 'good-natured' of him. I'm sure he'll leave if a good bid comes in during the summer, but he's basically signing on so Ajax can get a bit more cash out of it. Good on him.SPL schreef:And there is no limited transfer fee either so we can still sell him for a hugh bid.

Re: Luis Suárez
Very interesting article indeed. However the exact sentence is : "I think the players should take a good look at themselves. I notice some of them lack character and ambition..."
He really has the attitude of a captain.
But has to be mentioned : "If June brings a bid that both Ajax and I can benefit from, I will leave. But it will be with great sorrow".

Thanks for posting. He really seems to have matured this year under Jol and his comments echo that. Hopefully this rubs off on others and there is some ambition there.

Re: Luis Suárez
Luis loves the Limbos this season: 3 games, 10 goals.
That are all the goals scored in those games btw. So he's the only one who loves them.

Re: Luis Suárez
AJAX hitman Luis Suarez (left) has given Manchester United and Arsenal the green light to launch a £30m summer swoop.
And the Uruguay international is prepared to snub advances from Chelsea and Manchester City to land his dream move.
The Premier League’s top four are all eyeing up the 23-year-old, who has scored 62 goals in 87 appearances
for the Dutch giants.
But Starsport understands the highly rated forward will only consider switches to Old Trafford or the Emirates if he leaves for England at the end of the season.
Suarez feels his game will blossom under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger and is ready to reject more lucrative deals from moneybags City and Chelsea to work with the top bosses.
United manager Ferguson is a big admirer of Suarez and has kept a close eye on the striker’s progress with
a view to a summer move.
Suarez is also on Wenger’s radar as the Frenchman looks to bolster his squad.
However, the Gunners could struggle to match Ajax’s £25m-£30m valuation, leaving United in pole position to snare the striker

Re: Luis Suárez
Like all the transfer rumors about Suarez in the winter window, this one if completely devoid of any actual evidence backing the claims up. Not a single quote, just innuendo. I really believe Suarez wants to stay in Amsterdam.
Having said that, however, I don't think Ajax can afford to keep him. I imagine he will go this summer and Ajax will get around 30 million pounds for him.

Both Suarez and Lodeiro started for Uruguay today against Switzerland. Lodeiro was substituted at halftime and Luis netted on of the three Uruguayan goals.

Re: Luis Suárez
Okay, so he's got 29 goals now, after 28 matches. Amazing.
The last time an Ajax striker scored 30+ was not that long ago: KJH scored 33 in 2007-2008. He also netted 33 times in 2005-2006, but that one doesn't count cos he scored the first 17 for Heerenveen that season (16 for Ajax).
Huntelaar was the first Ajax man in a long time to score more than 30 league goals: the last guy to achieve that before him was Marco van Basten (31 goals in 1986-1987). Huntelaar was also the Top Goalscorer in the Eredivisie in 2007-2008. The last Ajax player before him to conquer that title was Jari Litmanen (26 goals in 1993-1994). Note that Dennis Bergkamp never managed 30 goals in one Eredivisie season.
The highest number of goals ever scored in one Eredivisie campaign by one Ajax player: 41 (Henk Groot in 1960-1961). The all-time Eredivisie record is still 43 (PSV's Coen 'The Canon' Dillen in the very first season of the 18-team Eredivisie as we know it (1956-1957).
Here are all Ajax players who managed 30 goals or more in one Eredivisie season (it happened nine times thusfar, thanks to five people in total).
1. Henk Groot (1960-1961): 41 goals
2. Henk Groot (1959-1960): 38 goals
3. Marco van Basten (1985-1986): 37 goals
4. Ruud Geels (1976-1977): 34 goals
5/6. Johan Cruijff (1966-1967) and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (2007-2008): 33 goals
7. Marco van Basten (1986-1987): 31 goals
8/9. Ruud Geels (1974-1975 and 1977-1978): 30 goals
Suárez will almost certainly break into the top ten (in fact: he's gonna make it a top ten). Perhaps he can jump to #4, right behind Van Basten's 37, but above Geels, Cruijff and Huntelaar. That would be a fantastic achievement. No matter how high he'll climb: one more goal and our man Luis is the first non-Dutch Ajax player to score more than 30 goals in one Eredivisie season.
