Euro semi-final : Orange rules

Bericht door Philippe » wo jun 30, 2004 3:54 pm

A warm support to our Dutch friends, hoping that Holland will be through and play the final against the Czech, for a game with no less than 5 Ajax players.

the more - current or past - Ajax players will be on the pitch, the bigger the chance to win … simple !

Poor game, dubious referee as usual when playing Portugal, strange coaching (Heitinga ? Sneijder ? Kluivert ? …). But it was a delight to watch Edwin van der Sar again : world's best ! My hope is with the Czechs now.

Portugal was the better side. Victory was well deserved for them. I wouldn't blame the referee for that.

I think van Nistelrooy was right to insult this referee ; I think that Portugal’s opponents have been cheated too many times in this tournament ; I think that the UEFA should be taken to court.
They have to take means to have a reliable refereing system at last.
"UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Netherlands striker Ruud van Nistelrooij after he insulted referee Anders Frisk following the UEFA EURO 2004™ semi-final against Portugal.
Van Nistelrooij confronted Frisk - who has been named as the fourth official for Sunday's final - at the end of last night's match, which Portugal won 2-1. The UEFA control and disciplinary body will deal with the case tomorrow. "
Let's prosecute Frisk
!

A player should never insult the referee. Referees are human too. We all make mistakes.

The only excuse to Frisk's behaviour is that the UEFA does not take the referee blunders seriously, and therefore does not take the means to prevent it (video assistance ...). The UEFA have made a fool of them selves on many occasions in this tournament. And Portugal was "helped" too often.
Van Nistelrooy got a 2 games suspension. What sanction did the referees get for all those mistakes that had a decisive impact on the games ? Tell me.
