Leonardo still didn't find a new club, so people were wondering what will happen. His deal has not been extended, but it expires on July 1st, so in theory you could say he has to be at the ArenA on June 22nd for the first training session of the season - and in theory he could also play the DWV vs Ajax friendly (June 27th, so Leonardo will still be an Ajax player then).

Today's news is that all of this is not gonna happen.

Leonardo picked up all of his stuff at the ArenA today and he said goodbye to the people at the club. Reportedly, he had one last conversation with Martin Jol a while ago: Ajax offered him a contract renewal, but he only wanted to sign if Jol could guarantee him a spot in the starting line-up. Jol told him he couldn't - and then Leonardo decided to leave.

That's life. That's how it goes sometimes. I was never a fan of Leonardo and I still ain't, but I did like him as a sub at times. It was nice to have him here. He entertained us several times as a sub and scored a few unforgettable goals (Hamburg away, Fiorentina at home...).
