Man City are also tops because the English always bet the most. The number of bets on Man City is probably the highest, so that pushes the odds down a bit.

Etcetera.

In pretty much all the recent Champion's League games, I've been surprised at how dominant the English teams are, especially over 2 legs. Thanks for posting the article. More than anything, I thought it to be down to the pace and strength of the game played week in and week out as opposed to the games in Spain or Italy. Interesting read.

some things are wrong with the article. Italian clubs by and large don't play catenaccio any longer. The English League has the highest percentage of non-nationals on teams of any major league in Europe. Can anyone name a single English starter on the Arsenal team. ManU has some English starters but Van Der Sar, Vidic, Ronaldo, Giggs (Welsh), Tevez, Evra, Nani are foreign.

The English league plays at a much faster pace than any of the other leagues which is key to CL football when only two matches against an opponent are scheduled. Look how Madrid got blasted off the pitch by Liverpool yesterday. Score could have easily been 6-0.

Since there no regulation nor limitations any more, the concentration and centralisation of capital is the key. English clubs have almost all the world’s best players.

"The English League has the highest percentage of non-nationals on teams of any major league in Europe."

Are you sure? Inter have begun many games this season with only one Italian player, and Real Madrid have less Spanish players than Liverpool.

"Can anyone name a single English starter on the Arsenal team."

Theo Walcott.

"ManU has some English starters but Van Der Sar, Vidic, Ronaldo, Giggs (Welsh), Tevez, Evra, Nani are foreign."

Manchester United have enough players in their first team squad to field an entirely English team.

Liverpool Gerrard and Carragher are the only english.Cannot think of any youngsters .

Arsenal Walcott, although he has been injured for 3 months.( Wilkshire and Gibbs have appeared at times due to injuries)

Chelsea Terry, Asley Cole, Joe Cole and Lampard.Again no english youngsters.

Man U do actually play english Rooney, Brown Ferdinand Carrick Scholes
with Neville and Hargreaves missing alot with injury. In addition they do have Welbeck and Foster. Plus of course Fletcher is a Scot , Gibson and O'Shea Irish and Giggs Welsh.

The main european team without home players is Inter.

“Liverpool, Gerrard and Carragher are the only english.Cannot think of any youngsters.”

Jay Spearing, Stephen Darby, Martin Kelly, Steve Irwin & Nathan Eccleston are all Liverpool FC first team players who are currently in the England under 19 squad. The first three of them have played for the first team this season.

“Chelsea Terry, Asley Cole, Joe Cole and Lampard.Again no english youngsters.

Well Michael Mancienne and Lee Sawyer are both Chelsea first team players this season and Mancienne in particular is seen as a bright England prospect.
