A cup defeat against Volendam will keep the Helmond Cup in NL for a long time...

It would be great if we still have it on the day of AZ vs Ajax, and it would be even greater if we still have it the day after AZ vs Ajax. If that happens, we will have made some major steps with the Helmond Cup tightly under our arm.

In thinking about it, the Helmond Cup has to be recognized as one of the most challenging prizes in all of football. To keep it by the end of the season, we will need to win or draw every single match from now on. What an unbelievable feat that would be (in my mind they would then have to retire the cup).

Is there a written rule that the Helmond Cup covers extra time? I see that 3 of this season's games were level after 90 minutes......there were no winners then, so why winners when extra time kicks in?

Just thought I'd ask!

Well the back pass rule and other things have been fairly recent additions to football's rule-book. These things evolve. the Helmond Cup committee probably didn't envisage the cup leaving the country but perhaps we should start up a petition for the rules to be changed.

This needs to be a Nederlands only trophy!
