Ajax make Modric move

Dutch giants eye Croatian starlet

Ajax are set to step up their bid to sign Croatian starlet Luka Modric.

The 22-year-old, who is also believed to be interesting Chelsea and Arsenal, is one of the hottest properties in Europe.

Dinamo Zagreb are now bracing themselves for a bid and Ajax are reportedly readying a 15million euro offer to land him.

It is claimed that Ajax's sporting director Martin van Geel has made the trip to Croatia to open negotiations.

Dinamo have refused to comment on the most recent reports, although they have previously stated they want to keep him until the end of the season.

Not sure this is a position we need to fill more than others (*cough* defense *cough*), but he looks like a good replacement for Sneijder. I think it will be interesting to see if this happens. I would bet that we won't see him unless a deal is done this winter.

maybe if he was 18-19 but not 22. even ajax youngsters want to move on at this age

Yeah, I think that is sort of what I was thinking when I said I don't see him coming if it's not during the winter transfer period. I think that's our only chance of him coming to Ajax. He sounds like a hot property and I also think one of the bigger clubs would pick him up after the season, and may yet still do so this winter.

I think he would be a good addition to the squad, but due to the nature of things, I think we would only hang onto him for a season or two before he's sold. As another posted above stated, there would be a decent chance that Ajax could make something worthwhile from the sale.

Well, aveslacker probably meant "lightbulb" (as this is the very humorous monicker given to PSV players), but it doesn't change the fact that he was right. Jaap Stam was a former player from PSV too and he still rocked. Hell.... Even Johan Cruyff himself played for Feyenoord.

According to the Guardian podcast, Drenthe may well be on his way to Chelsea as well as Modric.

Everybody at Real hates Drenthe apparently, and by all accounts the feeling is mutual.

I heard that Ajax offered 15 million euros for Luka Modric and that the deal was off. I heard that Ajax will not pay the 20 million asking price (surprise, surprise) and that the chairman of his club wants him to go to Arsenal for a price of 10 million euros. Why would he go there? They have to get rid of Rosicky if he is going to play. I also heard that if he went to Chelsea, he will be loaned out to PSV.

We are apparently interested in PSV midfielder Ismail Aissati. Don't know too much about him but if he is any good, he is probably off to Chelsea with KJH and de Guzman (Good Toronto boy!). However, we sold them Perez and they owe us a favor, IMO.

Been doing some reserach on this Jonothas dude...looks like he cought the eye of FC Groningen.......

My pourtoghese aint that good but i can tell that groningen offered Cruzeiro 1.1 million euros for about 80 % of his transfer rights but they ran out of time and the trasnfer window expired...he should cost about 2 mil if we are interested....i kind of trust Groningen they got some good eyes for talent....Suarez and Berg are a perfect example of what i'm talkung about.

Anderson must be another left back as that was the position he played in the reserves friendly yesterday.Also last night Supusepa the regular left back for our A1 team played central defence and Liesdek another left back played central midfield. Would like to think that if Urby leaves in the summer we may have his replacement here as of course Vertonghen can play in that position and Slijngard is the regular in that position for the reserves.

I have heard that Benni McCarthy is not happy at Blackburn. I know he would love to come back to Ajax. I still think he has a lot to offer. Maybe we could get him cheap?

"Khalid the Cannibal" is in our target. He doesn't get a lot playing time in Sevilla and he's not happy with that. Sevilla also isn't interested to keep him. He's on loan at Sevilla, he still belongs Chelsea
