I disagree. Sure, he has an abundance of physical talents, notably good pace and sickeningly crazy ball control skills. But that's it. He dives, he whines, he tries a billion useless crossovers, and his crosses are usually crap. Every so often he has a moment, but the rest of the time, he just wastes his physical talents. He's not even one of those strikers who can disappear for 85 minutes and conjure an amazing goal out of the ether. His "magic" moments are few and far between.Carcajou schreef:But deep in you, you just know that when he doesn't snivel and dive, he's just pure magic. I'd rather have a player with a little less talent who doesn't play like a pu55y and can land a decent cross most of the time.

With regards to last night how many of us said?:
(1) Watching paint dry will be more exciting
(2) Thats it then no more goals at either end (after the first goal)
(3) No way will Liverpool come back from 3 - 0 down against an Italian team
(4) AC will nick one in the dying seconds as they always do.

I was to a concert (John Legend) and missed the first half. We were about to hit the pub for the wecond half and I called home to ask for the HT-result. 3-0....ok f"#ck the soccer pub let's sit outside and have a beer instead.
I think it's safe to say that I'm feeling like I missed out on something. :pukey:
The final was over TWO minutes before I came home.

Glad AC Milan lost, they made history when they beat Barcelona 4-0, and now they make history again when they lead 3-0 in the final, get caught up and lose.
AC Milan now is a name to remember for a good laugh. :D
Let's forget about them.
When are those juventus cheats giving the 96 trophy back ?

All three of the 1970's finals are normally available on DVD on Ebay.com (USA version). Expect to pay about $7 to $20USD and another $10 USD postage. I bought the Juventus one - you're right, pretty sh*t game but still good to watch the old team - Cruiyff and that :xyxthumbs:Kowalczyk schreef:
As for Ajax's finals before I was born: the one against Milan (1969, 4-1 defeat) was a very good game, especially from Milan of course. 1971 (Panathinaikos in London) and 1973 (Juventus in Belgrade) were boring. The 1972 final (2-0 over Inter in Rotterdam) was a pretty impressive display from Ajax. I've never seen those games in full, though.

From a West Ham forum - I just love the last paragraph.
Sent to my many Spurs-supporting colleagues this morning from an email address created as Martin Jol. They are NOT happy.
I'm Martin Jol, and I'm pleading for all Spurs fans to step forward
in our hour of need. We were so unfortunate in the Premiership run-
in, where just two league wins from our last six games would have
guaranteed a European slot, but we had to face some of the best club
teams in Europe during this final six games - and most teams would
have struggled against the likes of West Bromwich Albion and
Blackburn Rovers.
But we looked forward to next season positively, and I had lined up a
fantastic signing for us in Mark van Brommel from PSV. I was shocked
when he declared that this football club is not big enough for him,
doesn't he know we were one of only six teams to make it through to
the UEFA Fair Play draw? It filled me with pride for this club to be
rubbing shoulders with some mighty household names from across Europe
and despite being unsuccessful we will be forever known as the club
up there competing with the likes of Mainz, Viking, Young Boys and
Tulevik Viljandi.
Not even the big guns like Liverpool, Juventus, AC Milan, Real Madrid
could manage such a prestigous achievement as making it into the hat
for the two remaining places in next season UEFA Cup and I think van
Brommel's advisors must have overlooked this during our negotiations.
I also dispute the comments from some people who say that maybe if we
were more committed and made a few tackles and risked the odd booking
that we could have made it into Europe the real way instead of this
pansy attempt at not getting yellow cards. But this was our best
route, and we had to grab it with both hands (even if we did actually
finish second in the Fair Play to Arsenal again).
The weekend's news about our Director of Coaching, Mr Frank Arnesen,
wanting to move across London to Chelsea was a kick in the teeth as
he was involved in a lot of good things at this football club. But I
did speak to him over the weekend and he feels we should organise a
parade next weekend around the streets of White Hart Lane on an open-top
bus with the squad that finished third in that UEFA draw last night.
We've had to endure the media hype surrounding the successes at
Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham and we think that this is a worthy
cause for celebration (We don't get many chances at White Hart Lane
do we?). Maybe we could hold a bag with the four team names that were
unsuccessful in the draw to display to the fans?
Finally, nobody at the club has let the above events interfere with
our dogged attempts to bring European action to White Hart Lane next
year, and this is where we need all of our supporters to step forward
and help us. We are at an advanced stage of negotiation with the
legendary Chas and Dave, and we need somebody to come up with a good
song for the next Eurovision song contest. We're sure we can do this
country justice if we can get into this competition, we just need the
right song.
Stay strong, surely our first ever top six finish in the Premiership
is just around the corner? After all, we're one of the top two teams
in the world and everybody knows that. The good times will be back
with us shortly, I promise. As I keep reminding the Chairman, we are
not that far away from a really successful trophy winning team. To be
exact, 4.6 miles.

Yeah, that was because AZ were seeded in pot 1 (one year of UEFA Cup football did that for them!). They are a 'group head'.dws schreef:Decent draw for AZ in the uefa cup : looks a lot tougher for Heerenveen.

Knew that ... but thanks for the reply... got me thinking ... A club such as Bolton with ,prior to this season, zero European participation, playing in a high ranking league, gain a huge advantage when it comes to determining seedings. Bolton's coeff. is 20.864 compared to 20.101 for Steaua and 19.676 for Brondby. Bolton's coeff. must all be attributable to the National coeff ,since their individual coeff. for the past 5 seasons is zero.Kowalczyk schreef:Yeah, that was because AZ were seeded in pot 1 (one year of UEFA Cup football did that for them!). A bit crappy methinks. Makes me think back to when Blackburn Rovers were Guaranteed group stage participation ,as English Champions, Whilst Ajax , with an excellent pedigree over the previouse 5 seasons, would have had to qualify had they not won the final in '95. I suppose the present system is better than that of season 95/96, given that seedings for that year were determined by potential tv audience share.
I have no doubt that AZ will qualify from their group. I am of the opinion that Heerenveen's qualification will hinge on which OM turns up on the night, the OM that beat Deportivo 5:1 or the OM that struggled , failing to score over two legs, against Beerschot.
one more Dutch club in the CL for the season 2007/2008. That's good news. Too bad it's not for 2006/2007 ;)
