Hatem Trabelsi
Didn't have his own thread yet...
AT5 Text reports that Trabelsi has decided to stay with Ajax for another season. That is truly surprising (and great!) news. Apparently there was no serious interest in his services. It is unknown whether Trabelsi received a new contract offer from Ajax or not.
Wow - that would be great...

Out of precaution Hatem Trabelsi spent one night at the hospital after his collision with Maarten Stekelenburg. The Tunisian defender went briefly K.O. and had to be stretchered off, but his concussion is not as bad as it seemed. He will have to rest for about one week. The J.C. Shield game against PSV (this Friday) will come to soon, but he should be ready in time for the first Brøndby (or Tbilisi...) game on either the 9th or the 10th.
More Trabelsi news... In an interview in this week's Sportweek magazine the Tunisian confirmed what we already knew: he will not sign a new contract and leave Ajax at season's end. We have put a quote from the interview up on the Ajax USA homepage as the featured 'They Said It' quote.

TRABELSI UNSETTLED AT AJAX
Hatem Trabelsi's agent has claimed that his client is unhappy at Ajax and will almost certainly leave the club in the near future.
The Tunisian right-back has found himself dropped to the bench recently and, with his contract due to expire at the end of the season, he appears set to leave Amsterdam.
Trabelsi's agent, Franklin Sedoc, said the defender was "not happy" about his current situation.
"Last summer Ajax did not want to sell him at a time when they could have got a lot of money for him," he said. "They said that Hatem would get a '(Mark) Van Bommel like' farewell. He had to stay, no matter what.
"A fit Trabelsi is the best right-back in Holland, Danny Blind said at the time. He also said a transfer in the winter break was out of the question.
"Maybe it's an option to buy off his contract, just like Maxwell did. We will wait to see what will happen in the coming weekend, now that (Zdenek) Grygera is suspended. Ajax must play Internazionale in the Champions League."

Hatem Trabelsi still hasn't signed for a new club. The latest rumour is that Arsenal have offered him a contract. We'll see what happens, but fact is that - as per 01 July 2006 - Trabelsi is officially no longer an Ajacied. His contract has expired and he is now a former Ajax player. So let's discuss him in this thread from now on:
