New Players for Ajax

According to @TuttoMercatoWeb, Ajax have reached an agreement on the transfer of Argentinian international Left back, Tagliafico for €4.5 million. The official announcement is expected within the next couple of hours.

I really think Overmars is reading this thread :) .We asked for a LB a couple weeks ago and now we have a LB (to be confirmed of course).

I am a little dissapointed, I was hoping he would give it one more shot and sign Junior Tavares the Brazilian, he is dubbed Marcelo 2.0

As for central defense, I still want Leo Santos! He is friends with Neres, so he can help him settle in!

Both De Telegraaf and VI are reporting that Ajax has reached agreement with a 25 year old LB Nicolas Tagliafico. He currently plays for Independiente in Argentina.

Our 1st choice for a left back was Van Aanholt ,now at Crystal Palace.He along with Fosu-Mensah and Riedewald are all subs there.They did not want to let him go so we have gone for Tagliafico

Don't know how our Argentine will work out but Van Aanholt is rubbish and I'm glad he's still in England. If Fosu-Mensah cannot get playing time at Crystal Palace how is he ever going to break in to ManU? Riedewald is not turning out to be as good as we all thought.

I just talked about this in one of our discussions in the Dutch language. And my signature literally translated means 'we all have to go a level upwards'.

All aspects of the clubs will have to improve at least 1 or 2 levels. When you succeed with one or two players from Colombia or Argentina it will be easier to convince good players to play for Ajax.


Meanwhile you still buy young talent like Eriksen, Dolberg, Onana and Dennis Johnson to let them integrate with your local Dutch boys. From your own region you should be able to bring better players than Joël Veltman to the first team.

Then the level of football will rise up every day. And things can go really fast in football. Within a year you can go from being eliminated by Molde or Rosenborg to beating Lyon in a semi final.

According to @fotomac, Nigel de Jong will terminate his contract at Galatasaray and return to Ajax. The 33-year-old has reportedly already agreed personal terms with the Amsterdam side.

I remember someone saying if Nigel de Jong were to return, he would no longer support Ajax... citing the high kick in the world cup final in 2010

I guess Nigel will fill the role that Christian Poulsen played for a couple of seasons under FdB. Poulsen had a reputation as a rough player during his career. Yes, NIgel did have a high kick in the Spain WC final but he was not nearly as dirty a player as van Bommel.

Anyway Tagliafico now official to 2022 , about 4.5m so we finally have a proper left back.Having turned down Spanish and German sides to come here is a good sign as our name and history must count for something.

Ajax are hoping to sign Zakaria Labyad this month and have made their interest known to Utrecht. Erik ten Hag is hoping to poach the midfielder from his former club. (VI)

Perhaps as a potential replacement for Ziyech, or back up for Frenkie de Jong who will take over that position when Ziyech leaves

We are signing Nicholas Kohn an 18 year old German forward from Leipzig for 2m euros. He is a big talent in Germany and can play all 3 forward positions. This is great, a German talent looks at Ajax as a better way to develop.Imagine he will play for Jong Ajax to start with.

Overmars seems finally to be getting a grip on what needs to be done. If the 5-6 youth players sign Ajax contracts this year when they turn 16 he deserves a lot of credit. I wonder if Redan and Familia-Castillo are still happy that they left Ajax?

Redan and Castillio will be earning more money but doubt we will hear much about them until they come back to Vitesse on loan.

Before them Fosu-Menash on loan at lowly Crystal Palace, Peeters at Real Madrid but on loan at VVV and not good enough to start.Dilrosun in Man City u 23's and probably go to Doncaster where old team mate Kongolo is.

We are signing a 20 year old Danish Right back Rasmus Nissen Kristensen from Midtjylland.Fee 5.3m euros. Veltman looks likely to go in the summer and we will now have this Danish lad plus Orejuela. Zeefuik will get loaned out.

We really are planning for next season.
