Id prefer to sign Johnny Heitinga for the defensive midfield role, perhaps Blind and Klaassen can play along side him in midfield,

Why play two DMs? At this point in time Heitinga doesn't even come close to Poulsen in terms of ability. Just because he wore an Ajax shirt at one point doesn't mean that he automatically is deserving of a place in the lineup. Were that the case, I would lobby for bringing back van Basten as a striker, he probably could still do a better job than anyone currently on the roster.

The play of our number 9 is schizophrenic at best . It seems like it takes a second half of the season title challenge to whet Siem de Jong's appetite for goal . Bojan Krkic seems to me the most talented , if not always motivated . Sigthorsson is generally poor with an occasional splash on the scoresheet , and Danny Hoesen is a catch 22...it may be that his play can't improve without minutes yet his minutes don't warrant increased time.

Can we just have a fire sale and start over ?

Some Croatian media report that Ajax are interested in signing Jean Kouassi (forward) from Hajduk Split for around 4 mil.
I watched the guy a few times and he is an interesting player but not worth 4 mil., at least not yet. I think they could get him for approx. 2 mil., especially since his current club is in need of money. He's young and fast with potential, although i would rather have that we sign his teammate Franko Andrijasevic who's a midfielder.
Could be just media gossip as Hajduk is very popular in Croatia.

may not be true but todays rumour has it we are signing Nordin Amrabat for 4m euros from Galatasary . Seems like Benfica are going to wait until the end of January to let Ola John go and Cuenca is not returning to us on loan.

I looked up Amrabat on wiki and although he is an ex-lightbulber he is in fact a local lad, ex Ajax youth and played for Almere.
Not sure whether this will be a good signing as I have not really seen much of him.

I think this really is a rumour and nothing else. Ajax had indicated they just want a winger on loan until the end of the season as they intend to bring some of the youths through next season.

i really hope we dont sign ola john, i really dont rate him at all.. id like get someone in on loan, on the assumption that anyone we bring through can be decent.

I agree with afcajax73, I don't see this signing as a positive move. We are not going to pay the buyout money to bring him to the squad and short term fixes are just not a good thing IMO>

Talk we will pay 600K euros for the rental and Benfica want his wages for the loan period so thats another 600K . 1.2m for half a seasons loan is too much for a young lad and its chucking good money away. Cuenca last year did not work because he was injured,Bojan has not worked so far ,when not injured he hasn't really done much .

We are putting alot of faith in our 18 year old youth wingers coming through for next season, thus we are loaning rather than buying.

If it ends up being €1.2M it's just insane for 1/2 a season. This goes against the salary cap that is imposed by management! I really don't rate him as a good player deserving of those wages. If it does go through I hope he proves me wrong.

I don't remember him as an exceptional player either but on the other hand our wingers haven't been good in the first half of the season...

I agree that it does sound like rather a lot if it's true, but despite Zlatan's revelations about the negotiation process I doubt the club will accidentally spend more than they can afford. Is there anything solid or is it still just rumours?

Since Siem de Jong is almost certain to leave, who will we replace as a striker? Hoesen, Sigthorsson and Bojan are not good enough for the number 9 position, although I would pick Hoesen over the other two. However we do need a decent striker, what about Luc Castaignos? Cant we do a cash plus player (Siggy) deal?

Just saw a note over on ESPN Soccernet that Isaac Cuenca may come back for another loan. He's not going to get any first team play at Barca at this point.

I'm pretty sure he's in their starting 11, so I'm surprised to hear he's only 17. I guess he'll be coming in the summer?

I think Zivkovic would be, potentially, a great purchase by Ajax. Certainly the striker position is one area that needs improvement. He's tall, 1.86 meters, fast and good with his head, from what I've read. Can't say I've seen him play and Groningen has brought him along rather slowly. He's only 17 but played 20 Eredivisie games this season so far, 15 of them coming on as a substitute. Looks as if the clubs have agreed a fee of 2.5 mil euros. Not a done deal yet, but looks good.
Not surprising, the Groningen fans are upset.

This lad is rated a top talent and has indicated he wants to stay in Holland to develop rather than just take the money and be lost at an English club. Kishna,Zivkovic Fischer , 3 young talent forwards for the future.
