Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
Shite! Group H with Barca and Milan.
Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
Barcelona!!!!! Milan are crap this year; hope we get an easy team from Pot 4

Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
Unbelievable... It was F or H.
F***.
But at least it's not Madrid.

Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
Milan looked pretty solid against PSV to me. They were very defensive and will be hard to break down.
Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
AC Milan have a bad coach, he isnt the best of tacticians, Barcelona will be easier, their defence is woeful and they arnt the same as they used to be. Im glad we got these two teams :)
Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
So we are in with three other winners as Celtic are drawn in Group H. Not a bad draw compared to the past two seasons.

Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
Yes!!!! We have Celtic!
Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
Celtic eh. They're not very good but they're physical which always makes problems for us. I don't like the look of this at all!
Edit: OK, that was a bit pessimistic, it's better than last year; but I still think we'll struggle.

Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
This is by far the easiest group, look at the teams current status in our group, and look at each of the other teams of each group 1st 2nd and 4th seeds even.

Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
Suprise, the worst one though B would have been bad as well (I'm getting tired of Real humiliating us).
Exiciting games to come and nice to face big teams like Milan and Barca, but realisticly not seeing much chance of qualifying to the best 16 teams though anything can happen in football.

I really don't think so.Ayman schreef:This is by far the easiest group
Just because Barca didn't win everything last year doesn't mean they have lost their way or something. They still have a lot of quality and who knows what Neymar can bring.
Milan may have been strugling a bit lately, but they have quality as well. After his unimpressive run in England, Balotelli has looked dangerous in Milan.
Like Tom said we have been strugling with teams that play a physical game. Celtic will do just that. Celtic park is not the easiest of places to go and get the away points.
Really feel that this was one of the toughest groups, but of course not impossible. We will definetly have to play at our best level to make an impact in this group.

Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
Great draw. Very excited.
Just too bad that the Barcelona away game is the very first one. That's a bit too soon for me. Bad timing. We booked flights and accommodation for Celtic, though.

Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
Great relief no Real Madrid. Milan and Celtic are alot easier than Man City and Dortmund from last year.

I know its too early, but picture this scenario......... Ajax qualify from the group stages in the CL and are drawn with Chelsea and manage to beat chelsea! Van Ginkel will look back and think 'I f**ked up'!!!

Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
The draw is on Monday and because we are unseeded we can get one of the possible seeded teams - Valencia (Spain), Ludogorets (Bulgaria), FC Salzburg (Austria), Rubin Kazan (Russia), Fiorentina (Italy), Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany), KRC Genk (Belgium), Seville (Spain), Olympique Lyon (France), Trabzonspor (Turkey), Tottenham Hotspur (England), Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine), Benfica (Portugal), FC Basel (Switzerland) and Napoli (Italy). We can't get our friend AZ in the first round as the are also seeded. There's a high chance we play against a very good football team, I only want to avoid drawing against Eastern European teams as it is too cold out there.
Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
I guess Juventus are not seeded as well.paladinby schreef:The draw is on Monday and because we are unseeded we can get one of the possible seeded teams - Valencia (Spain), Ludogorets (Bulgaria), FC Salzburg (Austria), Rubin Kazan (Russia), Fiorentina (Italy), Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany), KRC Genk (Belgium), Seville (Spain), Olympique Lyon (France), Trabzonspor (Turkey), Tottenham Hotspur (England), Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine), Benfica (Portugal), FC Basel (Switzerland) and Napoli (Italy). Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
I prefer to see us build a nice 8–10 point lead in the eredivisie within the next couple of months, that way if we drop a few points in the league during our run to win the UEFA Cup it won't matter too much ;)
Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
First Europa match 20th Feb so 8 league games before then (6 after the winter break). We would not want to travel to Russia
for this next Europa round , ie,27th Feb the 2nd leg say away in deepest Russia and then 2nd March away to Fword!

Re: European Opponents 2013-2014
Don't forget about Lyon! They have a way of fixing things their ways after all if you remember matchday 6 a few seasons ago. Also Basel beat Chelsea twice and while the cold sucks, I fancy our chances vs. Ludogorets although PSV had some trouble in that groupOrange14 schreef:I guess Juventus are not seeded as well.paladinby schreef:The draw is on Monday and because we are unseeded we can get one of the possible seeded teams - Valencia (Spain), Ludogorets (Bulgaria), FC Salzburg (Austria), Rubin Kazan (Russia), Fiorentina (Italy), Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany), KRC Genk (Belgium), Seville (Spain), Olympique Lyon (France), Trabzonspor (Turkey), Tottenham Hotspur (England), Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine), Benfica (Portugal), FC Basel (Switzerland) and Napoli (Italy). I think that SPL said it best on the Milan game thread, lets get the best possible team that will fill our and their arena so we can maximize the money we make on the match (and I think only Spurs fall into this category). My wish would be Spurs in the first round and if we defeat them Juve in the second round. If we go out to either of these teams it will be no disgrace. Certainly don't want to see a trip to Russia!

Considering the record of Dutch teams against Portugese teams, I'd want to avoid Benfica as well.Orange14 schreef:I guess Juventus are not seeded as well.paladinby schreef:The draw is on Monday and because we are unseeded we can get one of the possible seeded teams - Valencia (Spain), Ludogorets (Bulgaria), FC Salzburg (Austria), Rubin Kazan (Russia), Fiorentina (Italy), Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany), KRC Genk (Belgium), Seville (Spain), Olympique Lyon (France), Trabzonspor (Turkey), Tottenham Hotspur (England), Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine), Benfica (Portugal), FC Basel (Switzerland) and Napoli (Italy).
