Re: Former Ajax Players
Derk Boerrigter's Celtic debut lasted 38 minutes before he went off injured. A shame as he was playing well .

Re: Former Ajax Players
Ooh this is exciting (to me at least). Ex Ajacied marvin Zeegelaar has joined Blackpool on loan untl January http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23944157
I don't really reemeber this guy to be honest though the name is familiar - first time as far as I know though that the same player has played for my two teams.

and THAT! is why we were 100% correct to sell him. there is only one person more injury prone than him, a certain mr owen.Blind3 schreef:Derk Boerrigter's Celtic debut lasted 38 minutes before he went off injured. A shame as he was playing well .

Afraid to say that I watched the game....he was mentioned a couple of times but he showed nothing special. Spent much of his 38 minutes wandering across the penalty area as Celtic's approach play was abysmal...still, they could hold on to the ball, just lacked any penetration. I wonder if they'll play like that against Ajax???

Re: Former Ajax Players
Sad news.
The great Gerrie Mühren, legendary left-footer of the 'Golden Ajax' from the 1970s, passed away today. He suffered from MDS and was only 67 years old. He played 298 matches in all competitions for Ajax between 1968 and 1976, in which he scored 72 goals. He won the European Cup with Ajax in 1971, 1972 and 1973.
His most famous moment as an Ajax player, however, was not a goal but a little juggle, a keepie-uppie demonstration, at the Bernabeu in the European Cup semi-final at Real Madrid, April 1973. Watch the footage at the beginning of this video. A classic Ajax moment, a symbol of the power and swagger of that team.
After his player career Gerrie Mühren worked for AJax as a youth coach, a scout, an individual 'skill coach' and what not. I met him a couple of times: a very friendly, modest and soft-voiced man, a kind-hearted Volendammer in a team of Amsterdam street-thugs (Hulshoff, Suurbier, Krol and of course the two Johans...).
A great Ajacied has left us. Rest in peace, Gerrie. The club will miss you.
P.S.: It is beautifully symbolic that the next home game at the Amsterdam ArenA is... Ajax vs Volendam, for the KNVB Cup. The two clubs of Gerrie's heart. I'm sure there will be a gesture from the two sides.

How wrong was i R.E. Eriksen, hes doing brilliant so far.
Re: Former Ajax Players
It's because of the firm grounding he received during his years at Ajax!!!!afcajax73 schreef:How wrong was i R.E. Eriksen, hes doing brilliant so far.

Sad news indeed. That might just be my favorite Ajax moment of all time. Wow. Just love this. Certainly has wider application than football. Can't wait to read the book - what a great title!aveslacker schreef:Masterful words by the master of masters.

Re: Former Ajax Players
Dennis Bergkamp has a new autobiography (written with Davin Winner) out. See: http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/fcreviews/id/70?cc=5901 for a review and be sure to look at the tribute clip that is up on the page. Why can't he translate some of that ethereal magic to our hapless group of attackers??

Re: Former Ajax Players
@ afcajax73 that's way less expensive than the 60 euros they charge in Holland for the Dutch version. How can I order online at ASDA?
Re: Former Ajax Players
Does anyone miss Toby or Eriksen? I dont! Look at our defence, the way things are going, if more and more players improve their form, we will end up with a dilemma in both defence and attacking midfield!
Re: Former Ajax Players
I wonder why they keep asking Heitinga about a possible return! Who needs him?

i was thinking this earlier, but im still of the firm opinion that he would do a damn good job for us... experience, and still (imo) a good player for the eredivisie.souras84 schreef:I wonder why they keep asking Heitinga about a possible return! Who needs him?
