Re: Champions League 2010-2011
First reaction was ouch! But at least there will be great TV coverage! 4 Prime games out of 6 for sure! I have been so deprived of televised Ajax matches the past 2 years.
I would like to know the budget of Real Madrid's squad compared to ours. That might be kind of funny?! I am sure Milan's dwarfs ours as well and will skyrocket when they pick up our old friend Zlatan.
Kind of amusing, the Pres of Auxerre has apparently said that they will give up on advancing from the group and that they will finish first and just cast us aside!
However, they have had our number in Europe League as of late.

Madrid on day one is as good as we could hope for. Figure it is a list cause and get it out of the way and have the boys back for Milan and Aux where we have more of a chance. Hey, we beat Aux in 95, so let's go beat them again.

Nope, we didn't.rjf1 schreef:Hey, we beat Aux in 95
We beat Aux in '96, and they beat us in the return match. Same thing in 2005. In '93 it was the other way 'round.
Six games against Auxerre. Three won, three lost, 7 goals scored, 9 goals conceded. Our record against Aux is terrible!
We perform better against Real Madrid. Four wins, a draw, and only one loss back in 1967.

Pretty nice draw. I don't think AC Milan were the toughest side in pot 1. I think I will award myself a nice evening in Auxerre.

Re: Champions League 2010-2011
Basically, we must take four points off of Auxerre. A win and a draw.
I think it's a good thing that Real Madrid away is the very first game: the really big teams tend to start slowly. Stadium not sold out, they're not really that interested yet. Perhaps they'll settle for a 0-0 or something. They won't give a shit if that happens. By the time they come to the ArenA they'll take it seriously, so I'm afraid we're gonna get done at home. That's one point against Madrid. Five in total (plus the four against Auxerre).
Which means we have to beat Milan once. They come to the ArenA on matchday 2, which is still early. I think a home win against Milan is vital (and possible).
I seriously believe it is possible to get two, perhaps even four, points from the first two games (Madrid away, Milan at home). That would be bloody brilliant. If we lose the first two, we must beat Auxerre twice (which will be really difficult).

Re: Champions League 2010-2011
We had both Madrid and Milan playing this afternoon here in the US on our two football channels. Milan had an easy time of it against newly promoted Lecce trouncing them 4-0. Zlatan was in the stands watching. Pato got two of the four goals. It was hard to tell how good Milan is as Lecce was a rather poor side, unable to control the ball and getting turned all around by the Milan forwards. Ronaldinho looked good and this score could have easily been much worse.
Madrid on the other hand could not score and ended up in a nil-nil draw with Mallorca managed by our old friend Michael Laudrup. Mallorca had some great goalkeeping but also played quite well going forward on numerous occasions. Morinho probably has not settled on a starting lineup (both Ozil and Khedira came off the bench as substitutes along with Benzema who looked quite dreadful and is likely to be sold or loaned) and I suspect that by the time of our match in Madrid he will have. Van der Vaart was not on the substitutes bench and he really needs to leave this club.
I'm feeling better about our group now having seen these teams play. I think Jol will have us ready to play and with St. Maarten of the Keepers we are in any match. Forza Ajax!!!!

Re: Champions League 2010-2011
haha looks like st. maarten of the keepers is sticking!! Saw the Madrid game, and really there defence looked strong, carvalho looks like a hard man to beat when he's one on one. Crstiano Ronaldo is way too selfish and really desn't seem like that force to be reckoned with when he was with united. Madrid looked like a team that has serious issues building up play, Higuain who's supposed to be their hitman, had to come all the way to the middle of the pitch to find the ball.

Just came in from lovely weekend in Paris watching some great bands - happy as a pig in shit and then log onto Ajax website to find out if I want to buy my own seat in 422 they are wanting Eur 215 with discount if I buy in next week or Eur 253 if I buy after that.Benji schreef:He's injured.

The directors of Ajax can go and take a great big fuck to themselves. Robbin bastards - its not as if we are actualy playing the Champions of a country.
Sorry for language but I am really really pissed of with this - 1st time in 5 years in CL is a time to encourage fans to go along and reward them for their loyalty of watching basically 5 years of shit but oh no our Directors use it as an excuse to shaft us fans once again up the arse financially and try to recoup from fans for their own financial mistakes. Well fuck off !!!!!
Last year they overcharged in the Europa League and were rewarded with a half empty ArenA apart from Juve game and now it will be the same.
Will these people never ever learn.

There are rumours of Milan going after Robinho. Milan have also sent Marco Borriello on loan to Juventus.

Re: Champions League 2010-2011
Have just read an article about money in European Cups (CL, UEFA cup, Europa League) for the last 4 seasons.
Here are some points that i found most important.
1. PSV has earned 84,26 mln euros for three seasons in CL. This includes 25,1 mln prize money and 59,1 from market pool (rights for TV translations and etc.).
2. Here's the money received by dutch clubs from market pool: 2006/07 - 19,400
2007/08 - 20,204
2008/09 - 19,556
2009/10 - 7,578
This money is shared by clubs who play in CL based on number of games played i think. So PSV was the only Dutch club in CL in 2007/08 season and received 20,2 mln. Virtually by failing to qualify in groupstage that time we just made a gift of 10 mln euros to PSV.
The drop in 09/10 season is sad for us as it can continue (though there few of those who will want to watch AZ with Koeman), i will try to find the number for 10/11 season.
3. During the observed period nine clubs from Portugal earned totally less money than four from Holland. (100,5 mln vs 99,4). Market pool money received by Dutch were 66,7 mln vs 16,3 mln only by Portuguese.
4. Some numbers for 2009/10 season (euro used) CL/Europa league. The numbers change every 3 years. This new cycle started last year with the introduction of Europa league. Total prize money increased in CL by 27,5%, in Europa Leagues 259,6 %. They stay will almost the same (small change can happen) this and next seasons:
Reaching groupstage - 3,8 mln/0,6 mln
Playing groupstage games - 3,3 mln/0,3 mln
Winning a game - 0,8 mln/0,12 mln
Playing a draw - 0,4 mln/0,06 mln
Reaching 1/16 - -/0,18 mln
Reaching 1/8 - 3,0 mln/0,27 mln
Reaching 1/4 - 3,3 mln/0,36 mln
Reaching 1/2 - 4,0 mln/0,63 mln
Reaching final - 5,2 mln/2,0 mln
Winning cup - 9,0 mln/3,0 mln

Milan have just signed Robinho. Our defenders are going to have their hands full when we play Milan. They'll be up against Robinho - Zlatan - Pato & Ronaldinho at AM.
None of these guys (except Ronaldinho maybe) like passing the ball. That could turn into a blessing. Who knows - lets see.

Ajax have just posted prices for the matches against Milan and Madrid. Cheapest individual tickets are Eur 49 rising to Eur 116.50.
Well Jol, Suarez and co can look forward to a half filled ArenA. A filled ArenA is an awesome site - and fans would love to see Ajax in the CL but not at these prices

I don't but this just shos that there must be some kind of supporter's association that can put some pressure on the board and negotiate with them this kind of situations.

I suspect the board have no confidence of making the knock out stages, so they're thinking of milking whatever they can.
Has anyone compared the price of tickets Ajax is offering with a similar club in another group with a 53,000 capacity stadium?
We can't compare to Barce and Madrid as their stadiums must hold more than the Arena but to a similar 53,000 or so stadium, if an Ajax supporter is paying MORE than other clubs by a mile, I think some supporters club in Amsterdam should approach the club to sort it out... .

Re: Champions League 2010-2011
Size of stadium is completely irrelevant in this debate. I mean you can have a 53,000 seater in Ukraine, Russia or Poland but they would obviously not charge the same as standard of living and average monthly wage is far lower than NL. Auxerre are charging far lower for games than we are. Twente are the same.
Ajax basically have screwed their fans over royally for these games. Last time we were in CL I paid Eur 136 for my seasonticket seat for 3 tickets. Now I pay Eur 215 for 3 tickets for same seat.
Much has been written in media and letters of protest have been sent to club by fangroups and nothing has been done.
To date, I believe 8,000 3-match packages have been sold - a sure sign that the fans are not enamoured with what has happened.
