Vlak voor het begin van het WK in Sheffield ineens dit....
Hunter is diagnosed with cancer
Hunter is still planning to play in the World Snooker Championship
World snooker number four Paul Hunter has been diagnosed with cancer.
The three-time Masters champion will have more hospital tests during and after the World Snooker Championship, which starts on 16 April.
Hunter is planning to compete in the Sheffield tournament and will then undergo treatment for the illness.
The 26-year-old plans to be "tenacious and positive" in his fight against the disease and has asked for privacy until the start of next season.
Snooker legend Jimmy White has told BBC Sport his thoughts are with Hunter.
White, a six-time world championship runner-up, has rebuilt his career after recovering from testicular cancer.
"I just wish him and his family a speedy recovery," said White.
And seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry has also passed on his support.
"This is terrible news and the kind of news that puts things in perspective," said the Scot.
"It's the kind of thing that happens to other people, not one of your own.
"I'd just like to say on behalf of myself and all the other players and staff at my management company that we wish Paul a speedy and full recovery."

Stevens completes White thrashing
Stevens was in majestic form against an abject White.
Matthew Stevens took just 30 minutes to complete a comfortable 13-5 second-round win over Jimmy White at the World Snooker Championship.
The people's favourite began the final session 12-4 down after Stevens had dominated the second session 7-1.
White delayed what seemed the inevitable by winning the 17th frame before his Welsh opponent sealed victory in the next with a 69 break.
Stevens now faces seven-times champion Stephen Hendry in the last eight.
Afterwards, Stevens said it was odd needing just 30 minutes to beat White, but said he was glad of a rest before his next match, against Hendry.
"Overnight I was 12-4 in front so I'd basically won. That actually puts more pressure on you to win," he said.
"Stephen won his last game 13-3 so he's not used up much energy.
"I feel as fresh as a daisy, as if I've not played a game so far. I've been going to bed early and getting up early, so far it's paid off."
A typically honest White admitted he may have outstayed his welcome in Sheffield after his heavy loss.
"I should have taken some time off after beating Fergal O'Brien. The atmosphere's great but I didn't get the practice I would do at home," he said.
"I never took any form from the practice table to the match.
"Matthew played well but he must have felt he had nothing to beat. I really thought I had a chance this year, that's the most frustrating thing."

bron: BBC SportsQualifier Murphy wins world title
Shaun Murphy has beaten Matthew Stevens 18-16 to become the first qualifier since Terry Griffiths in 1979 to win the World Snooker Championship.
Murphy, who went into the tournament as a 150-1 outsider, began the final session 12-11 behind.
But the Rotherham-based player showed maturity beyond his 22 years, making 107 breaks and six over 50 to win the match in the 34th frame.
Murphy takes home a £250,000 first prize, while Stevens picks up £125,000.
The new world champion was understandably ecstatic after the shock victory.
"Me and my coach Steve Prest did a drive-by The Crucible before the qualifiers at Prestatyn," said Murphy.
"We both thought that it would be great to play here never mind lift the trophy.
"I'm so glad I got over the line. I couldn't pull away from Matthew, no matter how well I played.
"It's an honour to be the last Embassy champion."
Stevens had begun the match the stronger, 5-3 up after the first session.
The next session drifted from the sublime to the ugly on many occasions.
The sublime consisted of a 125 break from Murphy, while the match became dull on a number of occasions, with missed pots and slow play.
The Rotherham player was leading Sunday's last frame until five successive fouls handed Stevens a lifeline which he took gladly.
Breaks of over 50 in the opening two frames of Monday's first session brought Murphy back into contention.
He then won three of the next five, although Stevens won the last of those to ensure he held a 12-11 lead going into the final session.
After Murphy's ton in the 24th frame, a 55 saw him take the lead for the first time since winning the opening frame.
His Welsh opponent fought back with a 95, before two successive half-centuries breaks gave Murphy a 15-13 lead.
Stevens fought back well to make it 16-16, before Murphy made a 97 and 83 for victory.
Je zal op hem gegokt hebben...
