Gregory van der Wiel might return to action tonight. Which is a good thing, with Heitinga's one-match Eredivisie suspension coming up...

Jurgen Colin picked up an injury against AZ, and probably won't be available, so we still have huge defensive worries...

Match is almost sold out. Kick-off: 20.45 CET.

The absence of Colin causes huge defensive worries?

Colins injury for a meaningless cup match is a prime example of Cruijffs "elk nadeel hep se voordeel."

It's all about options. And Colin is an option in defense, no matter how you look at it. His absence means that we have even fewer options than against AZ.

As for the this cup game. I understand where your opinion that this match is "meaningless" is coming from: winning the KNVB Cup won't make my season, either. Fact is that we're Ajax. This game only counts if we lose it. That's why we have to make it meaningless. By winning it, to be precise.

Ogararu will be back to the action after suspension, so against NEC we will have actually the same number options in defence as last sunday

Half-time score in Breda: 1-0 NAC.

Elshot scored in the 21st minute. A long range shot from just outside in the box, which seemed to surprise Stekelenburg. The ball came straight at him, but went in anyway. One minute before Elshot scored Jan Vertonghen's free-kick hit the cross-bar, but that was pretty much Ajax's only dangerous moment. They didn't create a single scoring opportunity yet. NAC are extremely determined. They're all over us. I must say: the atmosphere seems absolutely electric there, too.

A lot will have to change.

As expected: Davids ain't playing (rested for Sunday). Leonardo didn't make the trip, either. His knee was a little stiff after his first appearance in ages. It's a bit too early for him to play twice in one week.

One thing's for sure: NAC will have to slow down at some point and allow us some space. The way they play now... it must be impossible to keep going like this for 90 minutes. For now, however, Ajax are constantly one step too late for every ball.

New tall centre-back? No, we don't need him, we're doing just fine :00001595.gif:

Scoring and then giving up 3 goals in 10 minutes? That sounds about right this year.

An unintentional great goal from suarez makes it 4-2

Nac-Ajax 7-3 in less than a month , unbelievably pathetic

see here's what's going on... a few months ago, the team decided they don't want any distractions from the title chase

and now, the trap is fully set :ajaxscarf.gif:

i was there for the promotion/relegation playoffs 2 seasons back - the stadium is cozy enough and can get to rockin' at times

Fully deserved, this.

Ajax played well for 20 minutes, immediately after the break. They started to create chances and by the time Suarez equalized they had NAC by the throat and it felt like they were gonna push through.

But then: three goals in nine minutes' time. Unbelievable.

I don't give a flying fuck about the KNVB Cup. We've won it twice in a row, the first time it kind of saved my season(especially 'cos we beat PSV in the final), the second time it didn't and it sure as hell wouldn't have saved this season. I don't really care about this elimination, but I do care about this defeat as such, even though Ajax themselves didn't seem to care (resting players etc.).

Oh well. Roll on the next one. NEC away. That one's more important than this one was.

K.

Yeah, they shredded us down the right side time and again.

Urby has been dreadful all season and now Ogararu seems intent in surpassing him for shear awfulness.

Colin for the defence. :biggrin.gif:

Fucks sake and to think we have to deal with this horrid defense for the rest of the season :00001595.gif: Christ makes me want to tear my head out....
