He is now an official Ajacied, and he will use the number 16 jersey.

Here you go...

http://www.ajax-usa.com/news/2007-2008/ ... -ajax.html

Slavia Prague profile, Suárez and Sneijder stories... The arrears have been made up. The only article we're still waiting for is the Cruijff Shield match report, but that will be written by our good friend Gordon Paterson. The game was played while I was on holiday, so I didn't see it.

I've been reading that Suarez plays with no shinprotectors or in some cases with very low ones. This should be taken seriously by Ajax because he can get the same injury as Davids. I hope he is more carefuly in future games.

Mmm that picture is really strange, because in Holland it is not allowed to not wear protectors. It is mandatory, even at amateur-level.

This almost looks like some sort of photoshop, or he lost one of his protectors during this particular action. I know that Suarez wears "loose" protectors, only the socks keeping it in place. Many other players wear protectors that are also strapped around the ankle, no posibilty to lose it.

It's actually what I think as I already saw him wear this kind of protectors. But still... I was a bit shocked when I saw this picture this afternoon on the official website!

There is no reason not to wear shinguards that go around your ankle and strap around your calf. None. It has no effect on your ability to run, and is a good deal safer.

It is stupid not to wear this type of shinguard.

Do you play football?? :offtopic.gif:

Shinpads are a bitch, inducing overheating on the shin. Most of the time they itch like crazy. I never wore any when I played team football (and believe me amateur football is MUCH more dangerous than professional football in the suburbs of Paris).

I guess you were not paid like them...

As long as you don't have any accident it's always fine to not be cautious... :hypocrite.gif:

Its funny cause Luis wore normal shinpads and high socks in his first game against Slavia. After that were low scocks and pads...

i used to hate shinguards, but then i found a proper pair that fit properly. i didn't even notice i was wearing them half the time.

it's not down to price either, you just have to find a pair that suit you. mine were 20 euro.

Yes, Bebs, I play once a week. Why do you ask?

Maybe you've just got a bit of, uhm, sensitive skin? :smallgrin.gif:

I can't ever say that I had a problem with itching or overheating. And either way, I'd rather itch than, say, break my leg.

Just in case anyone doubts, I've just watched the highlights (!) of the Groningen game on Setanta.

At the end of the game they do a close up of Suarez removing his small, unsecured shinguards.

Which I suppose proves two things......those are the type he wears, and yes, he does find them uncomfortable/doesn't like them so that's why he took them off immediately after the final whistle.

Great goal anyway - shame about the Groningen two.....

Suarez scored for Uruguay against Bolivia (5-0) in Qualification for WC 2010 :hupajax.gif:

This is his goal (the first one)

he's a cheat, and a not so good player, we should get rid of him at the winter break, and find someone else

He's definitely a cheat, but also one of our best players. We should tell him to stop diving, but either way we will make a fortune when we sell him on.

From today's Algemeen Dagblad:

"I play my own game, but I'm always trying to improve. I am aware of the fact that I have a certain reputation. This is bad thing for me. From now on, I will not even consider falling over deliberately. No more diving. It's doesn't help me, and it doesn't help for the team. The referees are paying extra attention to me, but they should be willing to see the real fouls. Right now it feels like they don't want to see them. They think I always dive, but it's not like that."

Well it's hardly the revalation of the year but it's good that he's (A) admitted it and (B) going to stop (a bit like Alcoholics Anonymous this...).

Do you think he reads Ajaxtalk?? :neutral.gif:
