The Johan Cruyff Schaal. We won it two years before with good shows, can we repeat it and continue a good show for the season?

Urzaiz has been training again, so should be available for Ajax.

UPDATE: I believe Sneijder is unavailable since he picked up too much yellow cards in the previous season's Cup campaign.

This is something that`s been buging me for a while....who will replace Sneijder if he get's injured ??? I mean are we a "Sneijder dependant" team this year ??? do we have to depend on players like Delorge and Vertonghen if god forbid something happens to Wesley ??

Last year we won this but lost the league. Maybe that means that if we lose this, we win the league.

Either way, I don't care that much about this (other than stuffing PSV, who are rapidly annoying the shit out of me).

I want Ajax to win the league and plunder Europe.

Yeh this Cup is not the most prestigous, but still nice to win.

HTC has reportedly said that Huntelaar will be rested, in other words, Champions League is more important.

I saw that PSV have been beset with injuries , and Aruna Kone` 's malaria , to their strikers. With Ajax's injuries and those of PSV , this match should be Jong Ajax v. Jong PSV , It may end up looking that way anyway. I can't see either side risking the health of their players with the season so close at hand.

Probably true. It's already noted that Ajax may rest Stam and Huntelaar, will miss Sneijder through suspension, Davids etc through injury and perhaps Gabri, heitinga and those guys may not get much playing time as well.

It wasn't very good, but it was a deserved win.

Ajax: Stekelenburg; Ogararu, Stam, Colin, Vermaelen; Gabri, Heitinga, Kennedy, Emanuelson; Rommedahl, Huntelaar.
Wissels: Gentenaar, Maduro, Donald, Van der Wiel, Sarpong, Anita, Goossens.

PSV: Gomez; Kromkamp, Salcido, Addo, Zonneveld; Simons, Aissati, Afellay, Mendez; Reis, Bakkal.
Wissels: Roorda, Alcides, Da Costa, Culina, De Jong, Van der Leegte, Zeefuik

Ajax and PSV were somewhat equal, at times Ajax were better, then at times PSv were better. Overral an ok game considering Davids and Sneijder didnt play, and Stam only 45 minutes.

I'm still worried about the left side, Urby was left to do all the work by himself. Donald played quite maturly, Gabri rocked, Heitinga and Huntelaar were decent, and Rommedahl showed promise.

Congrats to Ajax, lets hope this good start continues this season :ajaxscarf.gif:

I think we can not consider this as an excuse anymore. Davids will miss half the season and I bet Stam will not play much so it's better to learn how to play well without them...

I'm happy anytime Ajax defeat PSV . Especially at home , which is fairly rare. CONGRATS! Ajax. Just hope Ogararu's hamstring isn't too badly hurt. Would rather see him on the right than Jurgen Colin , though I suppose Colin was bought in with such a situation in mind.

Saw an item unrelated to today's match . Was looking at Ajax Netwerk . A story there says Urzaiz and Suarez should be fit for Wednesday. Good deal if it's so.

Sorry ,but Donald was horrible.
Losing almost all plays. Killing counter-attacks.

Romedahl and Kennedy were pretty good . And Huntelaar had some chances, but coudn´t score (but almost scored ,in an awsome free kick)

well done ajax, though winning the super cup has been kind of bad omen for the past seasons. oh well who cares. Lets hope ajax has a winning mentality this season. and I'm glad were able to sign suarez, he'll surely be a great addition for the team.

We used to have a 'PSV trauma' in recent years (just like Feyenoord have an 'Ajax trauma') because we never beat them. I don't need to explain that this trauma is now history. Our record against PSV in recent years has been remarkably good.

Since that terrible 0-4 drubbing at the ArenA (Spring 2005): 8 games played, 5 wins (including a 1-5 in Eindhoven), 1 draw and 2 defeats.

Even if you don't wish to count KNVB Cup and Johan Cruijff Shield, but only league games it doesn't look that terrible: two defeats of 1-0, a 0-0 draw and a 1-5 win in the last four encounters.

Of course: it's about bloody time we win the Dutch championship again, but that's not the point here. Point is that PSV are no longer our Angstgegner, as the Germans say.

The J.C. Shield match report is now up on Ajax USA, boys and girls, and I must say it's a bloody good read. It was written by our good friend Gordon 'jamcocteau' Paterson, who wrote two match reports for your enjoyment while I was on holiday. Thanks very much, Gordon!

Very good indeed (as usual). There's just one tiny thing which is wrong : Ajax was the "home side" as the cup winner.

Damn, you're right. And it wasn't Gordon's fault, but an editorial addition from me. :blush.gif:

I corrected it everywhere, except in the headline of the document (title of page still says 0-1). If I change that, I would post it as a whole new page. Otherwise I think it's now correct everywhere.

Thanks, mate!

Also the man involved the spat between Heitinga and Aissati was Emanuelson I believe, not Colin.

But great report as always Ko!

This one was written by Gordon Paterson. I hereby forward your praise to him.
