The second 'Scotland friendly': against Falkirk FC, another Scottish Premier League side, at their Falkirk Stadium.

This is quite close to Edinburgh.

You can say that again...

Piss-poor result. And according to SaddlerIan, Pizza 5 and Jock Cloggie, who were at the game, it was a piss-poor match, too...

On the other hand: let's give 'em a break. If Ajax beat Arsenal or Barcelona in pre-season, everyone will be more than eager to point out that it was "only a pre-season friendly." Well: this one was "only a pre-season friendly", too. Poor result, but it don't mean jack.

Same goes for PSV's 2-1 defeat at MSV Duisburg (let's say: Germany's Falkirk FC) or Feyenoord's narrow escape (2-3) at the mighty FC Emmen, last season's numbers 11 of the First Division. Again: don't mean jack.

Aye it does lol :biggrin.gif: cos Falkirk are shite, as a Jock and a Jags fans too boot, to lose to Falkirk is never ever a good thing mate.

Its a Jags thing - there is not a lot of love between Thistle and Falkirk so a defeat to them is bad news in any circumstances :icon_razz.gif:

Now you away and watch some music.

He just pushed into the goal a cross from Rommedahl (I think ?). Delorge scored as many goals as Babel last season btw... and he was not playing with a good team.

As for the result : that's crap of course, but it just tells the players that they are not yet ready and still have to work before the real thing starts. I prefer that than the contrary, when everything goes well and then they face Copenhagen...

Besides: they did really heavy stamina training twice a day. That's what the Scotland training camp was for. The team was a bit exhausted against Falkirk.

Doesn't make it a better result, of course (it's still crap), but then again. After a pre-season win over AC Milan no-one in the world would claim that Ajax are brilliant and that they are going to win the Champions League. For exactly the same reason this result doesn't make me think that it's gonna be a "loooong season".

Come on.

Ladies and gentlemen: the match report of Falkirk vs Ajax is now up on Ajax USA...

http://www.ajax-usa.com/matches/m07-08/ ... k-2-1.html

It was written for us by 'Saddler' Ian Walker, who attended the game in Falkirk. Ian also sent us a selection of the pictures he took at The Falkirk Stadium. Jim will add them to the report a.s.a.p., so be sure to check back for the pictures!

Thank you very much, Ian. Great read (especially the bit about the hot-headed Falkirk fan, who was invited to take place on the bench and coach the team!).

Cheers K. It was a pleasure to have a go at the report.....it wasn't really as bad as many made out...it could have been much worse. At least we were beaten by a team who's manager tries to instill the Ajax philosophy into his players, and judging from their performance on Saturday, he's succeeding.

John Hughes ....to Ajax......I don't think so, but it's nice that the Ajax style is appreciated world wide, or rather in Scotland!

Cheers to Allan & Steve who made the trip bearable.....especially after suffering the pipes!! I wonder if we can create some hideous sounding secret weapon like that?

Roll on August 15...CL... :onfire.gif:
