Next league game!

Excelsior broke their own club record this weekend: they have now lost ten league games straight. Congratulations, Excelsior! :D

Ajax will be without Grygera, Vermaelen and Emanuelson (injured), but also without George Ogararu, who picked up his fifth yellow card against Den Haag. I wonder what the defence will look like...

Possible 3-4-3 outlook, Olaf Stam and Heitinga in defense with Davids as anchorman. Something similar to Holland's outlook against Czech in their first WCQ game.

I would quite like this...

------------------------------ Steks ---------------------------

---------- Heitinga --------- Stam -------- Lindenbergh ----

Gabri ----------- Sneijder -------- Roger ----------- Davids

De Mul ---------------------- KJH ----------------- Leonardo

As Zoef says: a three-man defense and a four-man midfield, with two creative forces (Sneijder and Roger) and Gabri and Davids for balance. I expect KJH to return to the starting eleven, but I can't see Perez starting (as much as he would deserve it).

This formation would work really well against Excelsior. It's one of those games in which we want to keep a clean sheet and score a few goals.

Take out Ms de Mul, and put in Mr Babel, then switch the flanks with Leonardo and then it will work

You have to get over your irrational hatred of Tom de Mul. Tom has been our most consistent winger this season - an absolute joy to watch in most of the games he has played this campaign.

Tell that to most of the Ajax fans who watched him today

So what! He has a crap game in crap conditions. Does that overide all the good performances he has put in this season?

Think back to last weekend v Feyenoord - de mul was fucking outstanding.

Tom de Mul should be judged on his overall form of this season and not on how he performed today in conditions that did not suit his game.

I have to say, I wasn't too keen on Tom coming back to the Arena this season - I didn't think he was quite ready to play for Ajax, but I'm delighted that the Ajax technical\coaching staff thought otherwise.

De Mul has been great this season.

Today he had a stinker.

That's it. Can happen.

Great as in great or great in that he is better than Rosales?

IMHO De Mul and the word great don't go together in the same sentance - reasonable I would agree with you Ko, but great is stretching it a bit too far.

You're right as always, OPH.

De Mul is not 'great'. He's done pretty well this season, let me put it that way. Better than Rosales and he had a number of very good performances in recent weeks (but a pretty crap one yesterday).

He still has a lot to learn, but he is out only winger with a good cross. He knows how to get the ball into the box. Best crosser in the whole team is Ogararu, by the way.

I will say about De Mul that at the start of the season I didn't give him much of a chance and as such I was very negative about him. However, the guy is improving all of the time and my negativity towards him is being replaced by a grudging positive feeling. Next step is to get rid of the grudging bit.

Seems like we can expect Vurnon Anita in the starting line-up... I must say: he did well against Werder Bremen. Better than some of the so-called experienced players...

As PSV go 6-clear, this is an obvious must win. But we should win right? After all Excelsior haven't had luck in the past 4 games I believe.

I'm expecting THE LEAST 3-0 for Ajax.

Excelsior are shit, they have lost ten games straight and their best player (Bruins) is missing. The only dangerous man they have is Slory.

No bollocks. 5-0 Ajax.

Hmm.

Two minutes to kickoff and I'm getting "Channel Offline".

Anyone got one working?

The official site shows the team with Anita at right back and V D Weil on the bench but Donald who plays against Werder does not even get on the bench!!

We do not have any unavailable midfielders but it is still strange to take a kid out of the youths into a game like Werder and then drop him out of the squad.

Will be interesting to see if he makes the squad for Werder return this week!!

More important we need a good win today and I hope that KJH finds his scoring boots.
