1-1 draw, Forest keep the Helmond Cup.

Next up: a League Cup fixture. Cup ties are normally the moments when the Helmond Cup can go up or down to a higher/lower division, but not this time: Millwall are in the Championship, just like Forest.

03/08/13: Shrewsbury Town FC - Milton Keynes Dons FC: 0-0

Forest lost it. The Helmond Cup is now in the hands of 'The Latics': Wigan Athletic.

Which means that a move to another country is suddenly close. As you may or may not know, Wigan play in Europe. They're in the Europa League. On 19 September they play an away fixture at Zulte Waregem, in Belgium.

Helmond Cup to Belgium...?

Wigan will have to survive Leicester and Sheffield Wednesday first. But it's possible. No matter how deep the Helmond Cup has fallen into lower league divisions... a way out is always closer than you think.

2013-2014

03/08/13: Shrewsbury Town FC - Milton Keynes Dons FC: 0-0

Rovers! My 'other' club (for family, not football, reasons), although I haven't followed them much since the Venky's mess.

How rude! How many times have Wigan won the Premier League? ;)

Clearly what will happen next is that Rovers will trounce Leicester, then continue their unbeaten run until the end of the season, thus gaining promotion and returning the Helmond Cup to the top level. That way Ajax can take it off some crap English team, e.g. City or Chelsea, in next season's CL. You heard it here first.

Alright people. I just took a decision.

I won't be updating this thread anymore.

I loved the Helmond Cup thing for many years, but I've lost interest. Feel free to keep updating this thread (I'll read), but I won't do it anymore.

See you in other threads! :ajaxsmiley.gif:

As long as it is buried in the second division of English football it's not very interesting. You can all bookmark this: http://www.helmondcup.com/ as they do keep it up to date and also have all the historical results.
